boycott posts/block medhelp cookie

Well, I do not like the new format, seems our earlier opinions were over ruled in favor of additional advertising space and worthless glitz....I suggest a posting boycott, or at the very least, only "log in" when you want to make a post, otherwise block the Medhelp.org cookie, and don't log in if you are only reading posts (I've been doing this along anyways)....Best of luck to everyone, I will remove the medhelp.org cookie once this post goes through.......9 more weeks to go......;^) pro

I think post on "weight" or "weight-based" riba, etc -- should be allowed through the picket lines. As you know, many of the ads here are context delivered by Google, perhaps -- and if we don't allow any posts with the word "weight" in it, we may lose all those hot pics lately  of "Jillian Michaels" over to the left. BTW, I'm posting this wearing sunglasses -- as I often did during tx when my eyes were sensitive. Helps with the ultra white screen, and perhaps adds a little penash in case Jillian happens to look over. I hope this was helpful to you.

I don't like it much either and it's going to take a long time to get used to but...I don't think we have a choice.  If it was just one forum then it probably could have stayed the same but there are so many forums on medhelp i think it's just a big blanket sweep.

We'll have to deal with it.....just like we have to learn to deal with everything else. URGH!

now you made me accept the medhelp.org cookie in order to log in and respond.........;^)
I have media.medhelp, googlesyndication pageads2google and medhelpinternational all blocked, all the time....only allow medhelp.org when posting.....Have you ever looked at your privacy report from this site?
I also have all third party tracking cookies blocked as well....Sometimes the adds don't load at all (damn)...That's enough for me, I can't take the new change...sorry...perhaps it's the high dose riba.................... I feel like I am "scrolling" down the river....maybe if I center webpage on my pda, at least all I see is the center post section (g)
NY "We'll have to deal with it" perhaps not as many as previous to the change though..

Hi,

First off, we'd like to thank all of you that have provided feedback regarding the new look and feel at MedHelp. Your feedback is extremely valuable to us and we take it seriously.

We received feedback mainly in regards to two areas: 1)The new look is harder to read, in particular when on the site for an extended period of time and 2) The new look is too cluttered

In response to this, we've already made a few changes and we're working hard to build several others. Here is what we are doing:

Harder to Read:

* We will be adding a background color to the discussions to reduce the glare while reading
* We will add a new setting so that you can chose the size of the text in the discussions.
* We will be increasing the size of the discussion title.
* We will be changing the date format back to the old format, but keeping the time stamp.

Too Cluttered:

* We have already reduced the size of the right hand column if you are logged in.
* We have already changed the forum so that replies are listed by default, just like the old design.
* We have changed the order of replies so that the newer replies are now on top.
* We will be expanding the "preview text" in the forum so that it stretches more.

Regarding to the new right hand column, over the coming weeks and months we will be rolling out a lot of new features that will leverage this column. This way we won't need to keep modifying the forum panel every time we want to roll out new functionality. Please bear with us as we believe you will see the value as we start rolling out more features.

We hope these changes will address all of the key issues that have been raised. Our members are what make MedHelp the best health community on the web and your feedback is what allows us to become even better. Keep it coming and thank you.

if they really care about us they will give us our old format back.
if they dont, we dont have to "get used to it". they dont own us.
this is the last thing we need when we are so sick, a bunch of confusing ads and glitz and pictures.

Well thanks for listening to us and responding in a positive way.

The sides on my browser are fairly big, but do make the reading a bit easier, I don't have to move my head constantly to read the posts. Thing that bothers me is that comment helpful Yes/NO.  That takes up a lot of space. Kinda like looking at all the pics and don't have to look at the sides. Never do.  Now scrolling down those long threads can be a pain!  On my smaller forum this was okay, but on this one it is more difficult.  Please don't limit the posts or threads again though!! Thanks!

With all due respect to med help, the adsense ads have gone overboard. We got adsense on the top, adsense on the left, ad sense on the right, and adsense on the bottom. Topped by a silly tag cloud that's there not to aid human visitors but to interlink the site to gain  benefitial search placements. The pendulum has swung too far, IMHO.

Less than half of the available space is dedicated to content. It's this user supplied content that provides the inventory for the ad placement. At least give the content providors a place to post their ad revenue bearing wares.....

goof: you survived the mountains! yep -  couldn't agree more. google groups's hcv board is looking way more generous in the amount of screen space devoted to content...

jim: sorry to have to break this to you, but Jillian was clearly looking at me. You can take off the shades now.

"* We have already reduced the size of the right hand column if you are logged in" Is this an attempt to force us into logging on? Seems to me this will result in less new membership for your site from visitors/ potential members. Since they don't have the benefit of being logged in/unregistered they are being punished by having to view the site as is...Not a good sales gimmick,IMO....I see you added another new cookie (media.adrevolver.com), we'll put that one next to google-analyltics.com.
.........................
Don't worry Lauri, we will be eating chocolate moose and dinking fine ginger ale in March.....;and hopefully getting a good a nights sleep!!!
well, let's see if I can log in to enjoy those "special" benefits provided to only special logged in members......;^) pro

Wow, gained approximately 1 inch more in post column width....that's it? Me thinks it is an underhanded trick.

Willing: sorry to have to break this to you, but Jillian was clearly looking at me. You can take off the shades now.

I can understand why you think that because chances are you only check in on Jillian at weeks 12, 24 and 48 with inadequate optics.

On the other hand, I check in Jillian  frequently with very sensitive optics, and can tell you with certainty that she is looking at me. Again, we must agree to disagree.

I hope you found this answer helpful.

PS Jillian was replaced this morning by a product called "Move Free, Advanced".  The headline banner for the ad
was "Improve Your Joint Health" which I thought was Jillian's domain. I do not make this stuff up.

Why don't you leave the Jillian Michael ads alone,  OK? I was actually hoping they would afford her more real estate -- maybe a full-page so her chest and abs could get the repectful real estate they deserve. Still plenty of room for posts on the left and right hand margins. You know, maybe with more Jillian in your life you wouldn't need all that lacutolose and Reservatol.

Did you find this answer helpful?

All kidding aside, I'd like to say that I do like the light blue background a lot. Hopefully, other tweaks will follow. I think if/once the entire right-hand column becomes collapsable, a lot of real estate should be freed up and things will become better.

You're a sly one Mr. Jim, mentioning those  super sized
large breasted Hoodia women  , but let's not overlook the thin small breasted woman I adore....
adsense that................I seem to only get dictionary advertisements!!

Avatar_m_tn
Adsense huh. Lately, all I get are the "Beter Joint" ads for "Joint 3". Much have been that "is oral sex safe" thread (or maybe it was my "Jenna" post) on the other side. But I didn't remember complaining about my joint. Do people really get served different ads? How does it work? Also wondering if they can serve up local ads using IP info. Big bro' isn't far away.

Come to think of it, I did post in a couple of "weight loss" threads --  that is weight loss as in loss of weight when you lose weight from gaining weight resulting in losing weight for weight loss.

Maybe that's how I got those Jillian Michaels ads since she is a spokesbabe for weight loss. Meta terms: weight loss losing slim fat diet exercise

Maybe you can put in tags for something you really like and then you will be happy with the adsense ads. lol

This is ridiculous.  Before, you only saw a member's profile if you clicked on their name.  Between that and the "was this comment helpful" line half of the already truncated message space is wasted.

It feels so crowded now.  We've only got one third the original format horizontal space as before which means each comment seems 3 times as long.

And what the heck is all the empty blank space on both sides of the dialogue box?  Is that meant to be filled with advertising?
Blank

Actually I like having less space. I don't have to move my head so much.  Yeah, less space....still think they need to make the blue or pinkish a bit more, as this is still too bright,  but moving my head is a problem for me and I hated when I had to scroll the posts over to read them.  Just my opinion.. How ya doing, havent' seen you lately.

can't stand the new format, linda.

Plus HgB is dropping again - down another point the past month to 10.4.

15 more weeks (after tomorrow night).

I still like not having to move my head so much!!!

Love you sweetie!

SFBAY: Actually I like having less space. I don't have to move my head so much

Ya'know. I never saw it this way before - but that's one of my biggest (or actually smallest) assets. With me the gals don't have to move their head so much.
