Hi all—

I posted my thoughts on this thread, DJ—

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/new-differential/show/1256705

Often, it becomes confusing if a member jumps around a lot. In the future, consider starting a post, DJ, and tacking on to it by going to the bottom of the page, and clicking on the green ‘post comment’ button. This will keep everything on one page, along with all our thoughts. I fully agree with Hector, for what it's worth; the above values aren't suggestive of cirrhosis to me either :o).

If you like, maybe Hector, you and I can meet at the thread I linked above and use that to talk? It appears that has more recent data anyway, yes?

Whoops wrong test. I have so much blood taken all the time. I'll post the new ones.

This test is from 2008. No AST, ALT, bilirubin, INR? Any newer blood tests?
If this is the only blood test given when you had the "chest scan" (which should have been an "Abdominal ultrasound " to look at your liver) then the doctor wasn't looking for liver disease.

First, these lab tests, except for platelet count, are not diagnostic of your liver's condition. You should have a liver panel done. Even if you have a liver panel, it is possible at the early stages of cirrhosis to have normal blood results even on tests that pertain to your liver. Your cirrhosis is caused by HCV, correct?

Assuming these test results are the same today, your doctor can't be using these plus the scan to diagnose cirrhosis. I would call the doctor and ask how have they diagnosed you as having cirrhosis.

Having a platelet count this high doesn't equate to portal hypertension, enlarged spleen and low platelet count. Some of the first signs of cirrhosis. Normally your platelet count will be 100,000 or less.

Something is not right here. There must be more information somewhere.???

I'll be interested in what Bill has to say.

Confused...
