I have end stage crypotgenic chirrosis with enlarge spleen and espogeal varcies. I just feel like sometimes there is no use on living with this diease.  The doctors will not place me on the tranplant list because all my lab work looks good. Expect the low wbc, platlet count, and amonima level.  The transplant team told me that my PT,or  kindey failure, tumors and 1 more thing would only get me on the transplant list, so more or less you have to be on your death bed to get a tranplant.  I go every 3 months to have an EGD done to band the varices.  Does anyone no about how long someone can continue to live?  I'm almost at my wits ends with is.

I don't know much about your condition, so I can't offer any useful advice.  But I do want you to know that I'm praying for you today.  You sound very frustrated and hopeless.  I'm asking God to bring you  healing and that He give you courage, strength and hope to get through this difficult time.

Please don't give up.

Susan

P.S.  There's a gentleman named Mike Simon who will probably stop by and post something to you.  He's been through hell and back (including a transplant) and still seems to have hope and peace in his heart.

I was diagnosed w/ end stage liver disease at the same time as I was diagnosed w/ Hep C. The only things I can tell you are stay on your meds,(spirolatone,lactulose,Vitamin B complex) Did they put you on Prednisone? If not, find out why and make sure that if they put you on a stronger or different dieuretic than Spiro, that they add potassium to the regimine. Also, even if you tested negative for Hep C, find out if they will put you on at least 6 mos., peferably a year, of 1/2 dose Pegasys. There is strong evidence that this reverses inflamation (inflammation),fibrosis and even cirrhosis. Please let me know and keep me updated!  Joni

To: bholland @ all newbies
bholland, Hi and welcome! I could tell in the sound of your post you are at your wits end. I will pray for you. Prayer works! I did 48wks of combo treatment and found out 4 months post tx. I had relapsed. I am sending YOU this poem. BTW I am geno 1A. And will be starting a clinical trial in the near future. I thought I could NEVER do tx(treatment) again. But I am "eating" those words! LOL

newbies, I am sending this poem to all of you as well. I had a rough time on tx and wanted to quit many times. My 80 yr old lady friend gave me this poem and I kept it w/ me nite and day. I hope it helps everyone as much as it did me! love @ prayers, Cindee

DON'T QUIT
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit!

Life is strange with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver lining of the clouds of doubt,
And you can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst
THAT YOU MUST NOT QUIT !

Love and prayers to all my hep family! I love you all so very much! Cindee
