Congratulations!!............... That is so good to hear that you have beat this thing. I am female 1A also and it helps to know that others like me are clearing. It makes all this misery worth it. Kim
congradulations barb, that is the news you have been waiting to hear!!!!!!!!!!! it all paid off for you....God bless your future...you have done it!!!!!!!!
madbyron, hi, long time no hear...how have you been? i pray that you will be clear on your upcomming test...the waiting must be maddening...let us know so we can celebrate with you...
Like 'dirac' said above, Neupogen's the stuff that's used for low WBC and low nuetrophil count (ANC).
It's time to call your doc's office and see if they use it - and if they intervene with it before reducing dosage. Also, call you pharmacy and find out how soon they could get it for you - it's not usually an off-the-shelf item. And finally, call your insurance company and find out about coverage for it (it can be a bit pricy).
You want to get all of this done ahead of time so that if or when your blood work comes back at the point that you need Neupogen, you don't have to scramble like mad to find all of this out and possibly not be able to get the Neupogen before your next interferon shot - in which case some docs will want to lower or skip dosage. And that's real bad news in terms of viral eradication.

EXCELLENT !! I'm looking at my 3 month PCR post 56 week treatment at the end of next month. I'm 1a.....so your post and results give me much hope. GOOD JOB !!
~dtr.
Yes there is a medicine to be prescribed for you to avoid
dose reduction. It is called "Neupogen" and it is a shot
or two every week. It depends on your response to that medicine.
I needed it only once a week and completed 48 weeks of treatment
with a complete dose of pegintron and ribavirin.
Great news, Barb. I hope you start feeling better soon and that the knowledge that you've now probably beaten this thing for good lifts your spirits. I'm six months post too and not feeling up to snuff, but seem to be improving little by little. Also awaiting results of latest pcr. Best of luck to you.

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!! It's such great news, for you of course, but also for the rest of us (see my post in the MELD thread yesterday). Sorry you still have some other health problems, hope they are not serious, and wonder if they are related to tx?
Honey & cc, thanks for responses, it really helps to feel listened to and understood. I'm doing better today, and now it's time to check the Friday Fight Song. Power to the HepC People!

Barb, that is the best news!!! It was a hard fight, but you won. You rock!
Hey Guys. Question. What does/can a doctor do when your WBC become quite low? Mine have dropped since the beginning of treatment, but are still within the safe range. I'm getting tested again on Monday. Is Procrit just for RBC? I don't want to stop because my sx are minimal and I cleared at 4 weeks. Let me know!
