like I said allergies cause huge breathing probs...mildew especially
but I had 2 doc tell me I had a huge tongue, and no one suggested why....found out why on my own.
also, 5 docs looked at my hands and not one suggested liver failure, even though hands were classic.....a nurse practitioner is the one who finally suggested it may liver and serious.
why no else ever caught it....rolleyes.....why they shrugged when I showed them......
sometimes I think you can learn more in a year online than in 12 years of medical school, judging by what I've seen pass for good medicine.

ps cheese, you are SNORKing because you are cut off from air. hard to heal without sleep.

ps passagrille....if you can't get it sold, consider ripping out carpet and replacing with hard surface area rugs, washable curtains, new paint. moisture barrier and circulating fan underneath the house all will help remove spores from house.  Unfortunately mildew resistant paints on the inside are not healthy, very toxic, but a good scrub/bleach/repainting will also help.

also woolen rugs can be problematic to the throat and night breathing.

I have had sleep problems in the past. For years. It disrupted my life seriously.
I had the same problem.  had to "hold my throat open" when I went to bed. The minute I relaxed I would start snoring. I'd wake with a SNORK and have to hold my throat open again to go back to sleep, the process would repeat all night. I never got sleep. In addition, for some reason I also am jittery for a few days at a stretch, something going on in my lower gut causes this and I think it is hepC related. I had HepC and was ALWAYS tired, more so with the lack of proper sleep. A few stiff drinks at night would help me sleep, but then Heppers shouldn't drink so I switched to pot, which also helped keep me asleep dispite the snoring and lack of breathing properly. The doctors I saw wouldn't give me sleep meds (hence the pot) , and I was told I would have to have the back of my throat lasered out (which might cause OTHER side effects like choking while drinking for instance). I complained of a thick almost rubbery mucous building up between my sinus and upper throat. It was hell to dislodge but once I got a clump out I felt better for a few hours and could even catch a few winks without snoring. The place I used to live in had a severe mold/rot problem in the roof.

I found that after I moved from the house I was living in to another house, that the problem became less and eventually disapeared. I didn't need laser surgery, I didn't need the pot to sleep anymore. The jittery feeling lessened (it has never gone away) but the snoring stopped.
It stayed stopped (2002 to 2007) when in 2007 I moved into another house with moisture problems. I am starting to snore again.
Keeping a window open in the bedroom with a fan blowing in helps.
Wearing a well fitting  mask around the house also helps me.

Good luck

when you fall asleep you become paraylized and your tongue therefore falls to the back of your throat when laying on your back, always to everybody, thats normal.

the tongue can become enlarged from hep c, itself, adding to that. weight gains adds to it...esophageal issues can add, etc. try to learn to sleep on your side head facing down, sloping so tougue falls forward. stay on cpap, try to lose weight if you need to, which will enlarge your airway.

also pituitary probs can add to tongue size, and yes so can water....
but you need water....you just need the right amount...so be sure to have you thyroid checked/your blood pressure/even have and IGF-1 to see if you make HGH, human growth hormone, because you will wake up constantly if your brain stops making the chemicals that put you to sleep and keep you asleep and tell your body to repair and breathe.
70 % is not good sleep, can cause your adrenals to kick (like speed, rapid heartbeat) in each night to wake you up...which leads to more exaustion and inadbility to sleep/vicious cycle...
If you have swelling in legs I'd suspect circulatoryissues and want to know about your heart/and your blood sugars as a rise in sugars can trigger fluid retention in limbs/heart etc.
, some have throat/cough issues with Riba.....
but hep c itself cause some swelling in throat in some people...
my issue has been swallowing more air and having a swollen stomach pressing on the throat when I lie down and the liver spleen enlargement all put pressure...but you cannot take any antacids when riba is still in tummy so learn to burb, and you may need to consider a wedge or a bed to keep your head above your feet, sleeping on a slight slant...start sipping drinks/soups with a straw will cut down on swallowing air as will paying attention to how you swallow and how often we just swallow air without realizing it, when we swallow almost as often as we blink, only God knows..but this has helped me. Hope some of  it helps you.
