hey guys I'm back with a copy of my test results but I still don't know what they mean. hope ya'll can explain first test is the hep c antibody  results REACTIVE  24.90 H    NON-REACTIVE <1.00.                                                               THE PATIENT'S SAMPLE TESTS REACTIVE WITH A HIGH S/CO RATIO: > OR = 8.0. SAMPLES WITH HIGH S/CO RATIOS HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO REPEAT AS POSITIVE USING A DIFFERENT METHODOLOGY 95% OF THE TIME OR GREATER. THEREFORE,ADDITIONAL TESTING FOR VERIFICATION OF THE RESULTS IS NOT RECOMMENDED.

It's not a very common thing though - you already have the VL number and you do have HepC.

If you HAVE to have a disease...this one isn't too bad because it DOESNT spread too quickly usually and it does have a cure (even though there is no guarantee)...so keep your head up!

It means you have Hepatitis C with viral load of
133,700 IU (international units).

Hopefully, you're working with a doctor with experience in treating hepatitis C. If not, seek out a liver specialist. They're called hepatologists and can be found at your larger, teaching hospitals.

If the haven't already, next step would probably be to order what they call a genotype test. A genotype test tells you what variety of hepatitis c you have. Depending on your genotype and other factors, they may want to order a liver biopsy which is a relatively painless procedure done on an out-patient basis. But we're really getting ahead of things. First, find yourself a good liver specialist to explain things.

Meanwhile try not to worry. Hepatitis C is generally a very slow moving disease that is being treated successfully today and with potentially exciting new treatments now being tested.

All the best.

sometimes you can get a positive reading on a test when it really was negative.  It does happen but usually it is because there may be something else going on with the bloodwork.

That appears to be a positive antibody test, but yesterday you posted another test result "...as less than 5 mine was 133,000..."
It's probably a VL test but if you can post exactly what the lab report says maybe we can be helpful. Of course, you should also speak to your doctor about the results.
