Hi there! welcome to the board.
your question is not very clear, what risks are you wondering about? Obviously is not risk of transmission since you both have it, so it is not clear what other risks you are considering.

There could be risk of transmission if the genotypes are different.  frank

I remember reading something, somewhere about dominate genotypes. In other words, if your partner has one of the nasty genotypes (1a or 1b) and you have a more treatable genotype (1b), then it's possible you could get the nastier genotype from your partner if you didn't take appropriate precautions -- blood, toothbrushes, nail files, etc.

I'm assuming by your question that both of you aren't on treatment. If so, have you and your partner been evaluated for treatment -- viral load, genotype, biopsy, etc.?

My husband and I are also both HCV positive, I have the nasty of the two being 1a.  This is the second round of treatment for me, yet the Doctors aren't sure that he will need treatment at all, seems his body handels it better, not sure what genotype he is, just know they aren't as conserned with him. We take the normal toothbrush, razor precautions. But the sex life lives on!

My virus came from a blood transfusion. His on the other hand could have been needles, pre me.

I believe that the Lord will see us through. Best of luck to the two of you.

My husband and I both have HCV and found out that neither one gave it to each other because we have two different geno types.  Who would of thought.  Life goes on whether you have it or not so enjoy life to its fullest but always be honest about the hep c so the other person you are with can make the choice on how pretected they want to be.
