creatine levels 5.1

creatine levels 5.1

I recently had a physical and blood panel showed my creatine levels to be 5.1.  I am 34 year old (6'4" @ 260 lbs).  Curious as to cuases to have such high level.  I called specialist and I cannot be seen for another 10 days.  Should I be seen sooner?  My panel did also show some abnormal thyroid level (hypo) and slight anemia.  What are treatment options for creatine levels at this level?

Creatine is a measure of kidney function and a high level MIGHT mean decreased kidney function.  Do you know what the 'BUN' level is?  (blood/urea/nitrogen).  the ratio of bun/creatine is important, also.

....and let the lab calculate the GFR (glomerular filtration rate).
Creatinine, weight, hight, age, diabetes? =GFR.
Below 60 is considered kidney failure, regardless of cause.
As we age, kidney functions declines gradually, and the GFR tends to fall below 60. That does not mean dialysis, it means "treat your kidneys kindly".
