You need to see an opthalmologist.  Those are called 'floaters' and they are often connected to retina problems, which could be permanent.  Needs to be checked out soon.

Aw, Summer; you’re having a hard time, huh? Have you had an appointment with an ophthalmologist yet? If not, you should ask for a referral to one on Monday. A few individuals will develop eye problems on interferon; make sure you’re not one of them, OK?

Here’s what Schering Plough has to say about eye issues:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ophthalmologic disorders
Decrease or loss of vision, retinopathy including macular edema, retinal artery or vein thrombosis, retinal hemorrhages and cotton wool spots, optic neuritis, and papilledema may be induced or aggravated by treatment with peg-intron alpha 2b or other alpha interferons. All patients should receive an eye examination at baseline. Patients with preexisting disorders (e.g. diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy) should receive periodic ophthalmologic exams during interferon alpha treatment. Any patient who develops ocular symptoms should receive a prompt and complete eye examination. Pegintron alpha 2b should be discontinued in patients who develop new or worsening ophthalmologic disorders.
Make sure your doctor is aware that you’re having problems so he/she can address them properly—
Yes, go to the doctor as soon as you can.  My husband started a trial a few weeks ago and we were told that if this side effect occurred we should contact them ASAP.
Best of luck!
Feel better Summer.  Like everyone says get it checked out ASAP.
I understand eye problems could be a sx. of treatment.
I went at the beginning of tx. and again at six months, to be checked out.
Good Luck
Summer I had floaters, along with some excruciating stabbing eye pain while on tx.  Went to ophthalmologist and he could not find anything wrong. Its highly possible its another side effect of Interferon.  Get it checked as soon as you can.
I also had those annoying spider webs/floaters.  I still get them sometimes now but they were really bad while on tx.  Check it out with your eye doc.
Did they have you do a trip to the opthamologist BEFORE you started treatment to get a baseline check? My doc held up my tx for two weeks because he had forgotten that part.
If you did contact that same doctor right away and just get it checked out.  If you didn't well find the closest doc and get it checked out asap.
Actually since i"ve been offline sick this email is a few days old......did you get checked yet?
dark spots are NEVER safe to wait on. It could be blood from a broken vessel or bits of retina floating loose.
in either case not dealing IMMEDIATELY with it can be catesprophic.
tx brings on higher blood sugar, a bleed in the eye must be cauterized proto
detachment of retinal material can preceed a partial or total detachment of the retina.
If it is caught IN TIME, the retina can be reattached to the back of the eye in an almost painless proccedure know aa lased retinal reattachement.
However even waiting a day longer can mean a total detachment, in which case you have to either lose the sight in the eye, or have a proedure followed by laying in one position for six months with no head movement...so you MUST find out soon what is wrong.
Go to an eye specialist, they will squueze you in with these symptoms.
Make sure you go to someone specializing in Retinal Disease/Vitreoretinal Surgery
an ordinary Ophamologist will not do, he will only have to refer you on, taking up more valuable time.
If your insurance requires an referral try to get your GP to send you straight to the right guy...usually if you HAVE YOUR PHYSICIAN make the appointment, they will fit you in even sooner...if you do not need a referral call around in your area, MAKE SURE you tell them you are on CHEMOtherapy, and that You have these black things floating in and out of your vision field.
If one office can see you in 3 days, and one can fit you in TOMORROW, GO tomorrow!!!
Usually I try to say things more softly, so as to not alarm people, but in this case time can make a huge difference. You may have none of what I mentioned and if it's something minor great, and we will all breathe easier...BUT it may be what we've mentioned to you...SO
I cannot stress enough that early intervention is key to saving sight in some instances.
Let us know how this turns out for you, please.
I have these floaters and I am not on any medication.. sometimes they're bad and sometimes I don't notice them at all. They move with my eye but not exact like they're loose in there. Can this be caused by high blood pressure? I'm 25 but sometimes it spikes pretty high and my head feels like exploding.. I've had these symptoms (floaters) for a while and just thought it was dust or something caught on my eye but that didn't really make sense.. and since I don't have insurance that assumption worked for me for a while. just curious because I have really good vision but suddenly losing my sight is pretty scary. Also my job involves scanning barcodes on boxes in a warehouse and I have to skim over small numbers to find the right box for 8 hours a day some days and I think this is straining my eyes.. sometimes get a headache. Sorry for long post. Thouht this was nothing but retinal detachments sound scary and now I need to know more. Are there less serious causes of this symptom or should o freak out now lol?
