I omitted hydrogenated oils, preservatives, food colorings from my diet.It isn't in the treats I buy or anything.I eat all organic veggies. If I eat out, I always have water with my meal. Kale seems to be tough on my system. I have beet juice in the summer. (boil beets-5-6- in distilled water.) Drink the water from it at the end of the day. This is a flush.
I eat Ezekial bread, or Rice bran bread(in the freezer section of the healthy isle)
If I eat meat, it is farm raised w/o antibiotics or hormones.
I eat fish 2x per week. Sushi one time per week.I drink green tea, two cups per day.
I have honey in my coffee.I don't eat any bleached sugar. I eat only organic.
I eat kashi oatmeal w/ coconut every morning. My levels are 307,070.
Good luck.

Try to eat a healthy balanced diet.  There are a lot of dietary myths out there.  Do some reading on basic nutrition and if you get it into your head to try something new make sure you do your homework and understand why you are doing it.  Do not just start doing something because you see others doing it or you saw someone on a forum who advised it.  Also understand what you are doing by looking into the FACTS.  Science not subjectivity.

I try to consume .5-1 x my lean body mass (in lbs) of protein (in grams) per day.  For the average person I would recommend somewhere more toward the .5x range.  I then eat a decent amount of healthy fats (about 20% of my caloric need from fats).  I prefer monounsaturated fats and avoid trans fats.  The rest of my calories come from carbs.  I prefer low gi carbs.  I avoid sugars especially refined sugars.

I never eat a meal that is high in one macronutrient (e.g. carb or protein or fat) and low in the other two.  I always try for a balanced ratio.  I usually do 60% of my calories from carbs, 20% from protein, and about 20% from fat.  If you are not as obsessive as me just try to eat a balanced meal that contains sane amounts of each of the macronutrients.  Select nutrient dense foods that are high in fiber and avoid processed foods.

It's not about specifically what you are eating.  It is about the requirements you filter your food choices through.  It is actually pretty simple after you start to understand the human body.

You may find it difficult to adhere to a radically different diet.  Change it in steps.  Also, when I started to eat foods that did not contain as much sugar, I found them a bit bland, but now I LOVE the texture and flavor; when I eat some of the sweet foods I used to eat, I find them way too sweet.  Good luck.

20 % fat is maybe a bit much, imo... more protein is good,
as outofsorts says
, a sensible balanced diet that is good for anyone with or with out hep c ( assuming you liver is mild to moderatly damaged) if badly damaged seek expert advice , most of us on here are  just a bunch of dongers!

Hi, I will have to look it up but I would not eat sushi or undercooked seafood.  I am sure someone who knows will chime in.

It is recommended that people with any type of liver disease should not eat raw or undercooked shellfish (even if they are immune to hepatitis A).

I meant Fructose

Because it is metabolized by the liver, fructose does not cause the pancreas to release insulin the way it normally does. Fructose converts to fat more than any other sugar. This may be one of the reasons Americans continue to get fatter. Fructose raises serum triglycerides significantly. As a left-handed sugar, fructose digestion is very low. For complete internal conversion of fructose into glucose and acetates, it must rob ATP energy stores from the liver.21

there really is no proof that diet will make any difference with hep c until
your liver starts malfunctioning.
However it is comon sense to eat healthy with a chronic condition.
When I first found out that I had hepc I started 95% organic diet , distilled water
ect , ect.. 4 months later my bloods were exactly the same as before.
Even cutting out alcohol did not do anything visible.
Actually my viral load was lowest when I was socially drinking don`t know why
but if it were true that drinking alcohol was like putting gasoline on a fire
than how come my viral load double 4 months after I stopped ?
Just want to say  a lot is unproven and common sense should prevail.
For example I got so obsessed with eating organic that I started eating
less vegetables and greens because organic is harder to come by.
Now I believe vegetables are good for you , so get organic if you can but
don`t omit conventional vegetables.
Also the whole carbohydrate thing. I started doing the same eat more complex
carbs less protin ect... result was my iron levels went high. Now that`s not
good for your liver. Since I cut down my iron is back normal.
just my two cents

check your iron before making any diet decisions, most of the retrictions
are because of that , like red meat for example. if your iron isn`t high there is
no reason why not to eat a nice grassfed steak one in a while.

I was taking in a gallon of distilled water per day and my herbalist told me only to do spring or filtered water. She said that although it is clear, it is a shock to the kidneys. She said b/c even water has electrolytes, but distilled does not.
I think moderation is wonderful. Last year my mind was so toxic b/c I felt so icky about what I had. I eat sushi, because I feel wonderful doing it. I know my body can handle it. I had sushi every day for lunch before my disease, so now I do it everyday. About the raw meat, I don't believe it is bad if it is freshly prepared. Sushi has so many nutrients in it.The ginger and wasabi is great for it, even though many herbalists do not agree with us having ginger, as it invokes warmth from within, and our issue already is a heat within. I don't believe that anyone knows better for my body, than me. It is not ignorant, but spiritual. I quit the drinking thing too more so because I saw direct results from it. To Stalion: maybe it is hard on your mind to not drink. Are you depressed by not drinking? Then have an occasional drink. Your mind can be more toxic than the disease sometimes. My tongue turned black if I had wine, and it wasn't the stain of the wine.It was an internal thing. My body said STOP.(my grandmothers did it too, but she didn't stop drinking. She later died of cancer from the drinking, so I think it has to do with also being in my blood line) I would also get violently ill and throw up lots of red chunks that looked like red split peas. I had a glass of wine on Thanksgiving and two in January.
Each time I drink now, I just don't like it. I work out, so I  can feel my body get too loose.
Each of our bodies are different. Please do what suits YOU. Listen to your body. That is the magical gift that this "disease" has given us. What is it telling you??? Our bodies are briliant. No computer can compare. It will talk to you if you listen.
