It seems the farther down tx road I get , I get constipated more . What a subject to bring up , ha. I drink plenty of water , eat 5 or 6 servings of fruit a day , veggies and all. Man if I eat a lot in 1 setting I get abdominal pain to the point of exterem discomfort at times .Last couple of days I've been puttin the fruit and veggies away with a nite meal of chili and beans  or lima beans . Seems to be helpin. Dyce is used to eatin any thing he wants. If I eat any processed food man it's like I got a rock in my gut . I quess I know better there but that stuff don't usually bother the p--p shooter.Any experience with this or is it just a tx thing?

I seem to be doing better with the ole nanny berries... drinking juices, Kashi cereal, and it does seem to letting up or go should I say...problem now is ANY overindulgence, and I get sick to my stomach.  came home at noon today, sick as the proverbial dog...  My son the PA said colace (sp??) rather than the dulcolax I got, cause man, you wanna talk about cramps.... gas is not fun!!!

I've had constipation problems for about the past 15 years.  I've had a colonoscopy to look for a reason and it showed that my colon was larger than most people's and had loops in it.  It's called megacolon.  But being on treatment all these times doesn't help the problem any.  Fiber actually makes me worse.  It moves to a certain part of my colon and then, stops and then, I end up with worse problems.  Cheese, even though I love it, make it worse.  I'm hoping that it gets resolved for you.

Metamusil, Prunes, Mangoes, ground flax and Fiber bars does it for me. Just don't take more than two out of the list in a day or you may have the opposite problem :) Also, Metamusil requires copious amounts of water or it can actually clog the system more. The veggies you're eating also will help but not sure about the beans. Rice can also be very constipating as well as most low fiber foods.

Dont mean to jack the thread, but I just got my info from the doctor in paper.  It says:

HepC RNA, PCR Quant 12900000  IU/ML
Viral Log: 6.111  Log 10.

What really does that mean?  I promise not to bring up my lump.  doh.. did it again.

I love reading you stories about your dogs ,i was raised on a farm where my grandpa raised coon hounds, along with every animal on the earth hewould bring home trophy after trophy, and he would always tell me now rusty dont you playin with a couple of them mean sob hounds, but guess what i would do not after 10min he told me not ,id be out thier lettin lick all over my face, one time i didnt know he was looking and i caught him just agrinnin...i went to visit him about 2months before he passed and i aked him about his hounds he still had some even though he coulndt hunt, and he got out his box with all the papers of his hounds and me and him sat for a wonderful afternoon talkin about his hounds and his hunts it was amemory ill treasure all my life....

Dyce try ativan it helps calm your nerves and takin about an hour and a half before bed will help you sleep  its not a ad so you take it when you want it the cost is around 20 dollars compared to the whopping amount youll be payin for ambien, also make sure he doesnt give you 5mg ask for 1mg.

That is your HCV viral load. You’ll notice that it can be expressed in several different ways. The 12,900,000 is the VL expressed numerically.

"Viral Log 6.111 Log 10" is the same number expressed again in logarithm form. For right now, the easiest way to keep track of your progress if you intend to begin treatment is to watch the numerical value. For example, most doctors’ protocol require that we achieve a 2-log 10 drop in VL at the 12-week point in Tx. For every 1 log drop, simply move the decimal point to the left one place.

For instance:

Baseline 12,900,000 IU/ML
1 log drop = 1,290,000 IU/ML
2 log drop = 129,000 IU/ML

Sooo, you will be looking for your VL to reduce to 129,000 by the time your 12 week PCR is taken. Hopefully, that will get you started; if you have any more ?‘s, feel free to ask.

Best,

Bill

I tell ya, if you forget the whole list I gave you, and you just eat one or two ripe mango's a day, it will get things moving just right. Mango not only is rich in fiber but also has enzymes that aid digestion. In fact, I just opened a pack of dried, organic Mangos as we speak. Prunes also do the trick pretty well, but again, don't try too many things at once and add fiber gradually as your body may not be used to it.

His name was Glenn Rader he was from Tonganoxie Kansas he had 300 acres of beautiful land it ran up side the leavenworth prison,i remember the police on occasion would scape his land for runaway prisioners. I think he did most of his competing in the 50s and 60s, but next time i talk to my mom ill ask her if she remembers any of the competitions, and where they were.

I had trouble early on and used several of Jim's great suggestions.  Also switched to a really high fiber cereal (some of them include 40% of the recommended daily fiber intake).  Some of them actually taste good.  Follow that with a cup of java.  Works for me.  (I've never talked about constipation with anyone before--I feel so much less repressed now!).

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM CONSTIPATION. ITAKE LACTALOSE 20MG THREE TIMES A DAY, THIS WILL TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. IF YOU TAKE PAIN MEDS THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR BOWEL MOVEMENTS. YOU CAN GET THE LACTALOSE FROM YOUR DOC. IT WILL HELP.                GOD BLESS, LIV4JESUS     ROBERT

Readers Digest and rocking left to right and grinding your teeth should do the job. I haven't been hit with this problem during treatment. I was diagnosed with a Super Nova Colon recently. It has rings around it with two more moons than earth. Planet plop plop. I hope this passes Dyce. Dale

PS: Seriously my Grandmother used to give me figs, prunes or boiled okra when I was a kid and had your problem. The stuff never stops moving. Just a thought. Dale

I answered this a few days ago, you must have missed my post.  I had the same problem  in the beginning and ended up in th ER, though I was having a heart attack because of the pain.
My dr gave me LACTULOSE SOLUtion, USP , I couldn't believe how well it worked.  Have not had a problem since, try it and you'll have no more problems.  It really works well.
Let me know how you work out.

Glad your feeling better, diet change does help.  How is the fever, do you still have it?  I'm going in for the transfusion next week and that should get me to the end of tx.  Have you heard from beamer lately?  Haven't seen much of him lately.

Yeah, you have one of those wussy genotypes - you lucky guy!  Glad you are hanging in there, will they check your hgb again before the transfusion in case you are going back up?  You don't have long at all now!

Will have my HGB checked Wed. and will probably go in that day for another transfusion.  Given my history I don't think it will go up.  By Wed. I'll have 4 shots left and the new blood will see me to the end.
