doctor please

a lady  i work with  told me she had hep b  from iv  use when she was 17 she is now 51...she didnt realize till years later she had hep c also..we hang out weve shared drinks smoke out of the same pipe  we once got drunk and she tried to give me oral sex..as soon as i felt her mouth touch my penis i told her not to that we were just friends..could i have gotten hep c or hep b from her mouth touching my penis? what about.sharing drinks orsmoking from the same pipe?

you probably had more of a chance of getting HCV from sharing the pipe then oral sex. Sharing a pipe has been recently added to one of the ways HCV can be transmitted,  even though one of the lower risks still get tested to put your mind at ease.

well i think everyone would agree that this was a "no risk" situation.

regarding hep b: if you are not vaccinated, you might consider doing so - the hep B vaccination is very safe and very effective, and you will never have to worry about Hep B anymore.

also, if you are sexually active, you may want to consider doing routine testing to clear any doubts about any possible infection status. ideally discuss it with a specialist doctor.
