Hi Jonney,

I am seeing one for the duration of the treatment...as I have always dealt with depression and he decided to take me on as a patient for the duration of treatment.  I figure the more support and care through this the better! *s*  I see him once a month but he did say if there is any "crisis" to just call him directly. Makes me feel a lot more secure that I do have this support.  I did treatment back in 92 and did not and ended up in really severe depression back then.  Don't ever want to go there again!

Good luck in your tx,

Sincerely, starshine1ca

They insisted that I see a shrink a month before I started Tx.  Told it was standard practice.  I'm taking 1mg. of Risperidone/day, tried Lithium but much too strong for me.  He also prescribed Clonazapem .5mg.

Saw him once a month during Tx.  He is also very experienced with Interferon patients.

Don't sweat it, I found it to be a very grounding experience.

Good luck on Wed. - Lynne

I was already seeing a psychiatrist when I went on tx, and my doctor insisted that I continue to see her during tx (which actually didn't really happen, I was too sick to go to most of the appts at that time).  They will assess you for any issues, particularly treatment related in this case, to your mental health.  I wouldn't have a lot of anxiety about it.  It's not that bad, really.
