donating plasma

im a female 44yrs of age and i was told sometime back that i carried the antibodies for hep c. i have never tested positive for the virus. can i donate plasma?

To add to the good advice you have been given ,interestingly enough you can be an organ donor,however ,no you can not donate blood.

If you carry the antibodies but not the viral RNA, then you do not have the virus. For reasons I've never understood (maybe CYA?) the blood banks have not traditionally made that distinction when accepting donations. I hope that changes as more Hepatitis C patients are able to eliminate the virus with the new treatments. Unless there have been very recent changes to policy, they will not let you donate blood.
