dry mouth

I had a very dry mouth the first couple months and I used Biotene for it. It's a mouth rinse you can get at Wal-Mart.

Yeah, i know.. i'm on my 4th. week and i'm realy suffering about it.. specialy during the night!! wakeing up choffing and having mouth + throat + nose extremely dry.. It's getting a bit easyer now ( a bit ). Sucking something, like sugar-free candyes, has helped me a lot.

Yes I had it really bad the first 12 weeks, so i tried this liquid you put in your mouth ,, but it almost made sick every time i used it the taste was awful yukkk, so i just kept water by my side the whole time and it  eventually got a little better as time rolled on , i should have tried that mouth wash....

Also I use Oasis mouth wash,  mostly Glycerin and costs about nine bucks (US) a bottle, but the combination of ingredients seems to keep my mouth from drying out the best I've found.  You can add some water to stretch it out, and I keep a small bottle by my bed and with me during the day to use often.  Remember not to rinse.  Of course the drying is another sx and dehydration, so keep the fluids going.  G

I use biotine everyday also. I love the way it feels in my mouth. Its so soothing. I also will chew on a piece of "Spry" gum which also seems to help when my mouth feels dry.

dentist told me to use the biotene products for dry mouth and because the hcv is so hard on teeth and gums you need the balance those products give but i dont care for the toothpaste

I know the nurses suggest the candies but I don't like them and they aren't good for my teeth. When I used to wake up in the a.m. I had a very dry mouth. It improves with time.

God I wish that had worked for me.  I tried EVERYTHING but right away my mouth was completely like the Gobi Desert again.

My tongue literally cracked and bled constantly. I'd never heard of such a thing being possible before.

I got into the habit of eating fudgicles all day long - that was the only good part about it.

I developed BAD mouth sores from the dryness - for some reason bacteria is able to thrive and the interferon can give people on tx the mouth sores...so you can't really get rid of them.

The only good thing in the world is that it went away so quickly after treatment.

Once the interferon goes away fortunately it does too. So just hang in there and keep ice chips handy...I got real good with a hammer after a while and I wanted so MUCH to be able to afford a new fridge that makes it's own chips but...well.......I also wish I owned a Lamborgini if you know what I mean!
