ear buzzing to twinmick or others with buzzing in ear

by Myown, Jul 20, 2006 12:00AM
You mentioned ear buzzing. I've been having that problem for quite some time also, didn't know if it was hep related or not. Can you tell me under what conditions do you experience it?

Anyone else experience this? it's very annoying. Can't find reason why. Went to ENT, to no avail.

I have had ear buzzing for 4 months.  Everyone tells me it's not a side effect, both my doctor and the nurse from Pegasys support.  I just live with it and don't know why I have it. I personally think it's the ribavarin.  It seems to get worse just after I take my meds.

If your hemoglobin is down it's anemia.

When mine dropped it was DREADFUL and my head rang in my ears constantly.  It drove me nuts. As soon as the Epogen got my hemo going back up it stopped completely. (My doc had wanted to send me to an ENT guy too - but I had read in HERE that it was the anemia and told him to test for it...and we did a CBC and it was indeed just that)

But I haven't started treatment yet. This started 1 and one half years ago. Thought maybe it is something from the virus, now that i know i have hcv.

thanks anyhow

I have had tinnitus for quite a while before DX. Weird thing happened on my first shot it went away totally but then came back.
I have had ear surgery on left ear and it is a little worse on that side, I think-but hard to tell. I don't notice it most of the time just live with it.

How old are you? I think it is a symptom of aging?

Oh gosh...ringing...my ears always ring.  If it gets any worse I will be thinking I have to answer the phone.  Ugh

i'm 50. I think this is either related to hcv or thyroid or I don't even want to think of what else it might be, but doc might give me mri, to play it safe. Lately it hasn't been bad and only happens with loud noise. I don't put the phone on that side anymore, but when you look some of this stuff up on computer, you say, "OH NO, NOT THAT!!""

Check out my post under Hypoglycemia. I've had tinnitus for over 20 years. I found out that HCV can cause it and it can cause tinnitus.

Good health
Jim

I have a conductive hearing loss on one side due to an auto accident when I was a teen. Had surgery for it once(malleus bone was fused and he drilled or cut it so it could vibrate) and the doc said it my regress(grow back)to a point of needing another surgery. Well I went to a doc about 4 years ago and he tried to tell me it was a nerve loss to sell me a hearing aid (and get a kickback.) I mean this JERK was MUFFLING the tuning fork test with his hand. I bought my own tuning fork and googled how to do it and hello it's a CONDUCTIVE loss.
Also got to reading alot more info about ears and hearing damage. I did read that when exposed to more that 80 decibils for more than an hour damage does occur. Think of all the concerts!!
I also worked at casino's for many years and the bigger do decible check every hour. So I bought my own decible meter to see for myself.
Also reading alot about hearing damage I learned that your ears do reflexively close up with loud noises ,especially when hearing damage has already occured.

Hi Myown/everyone

The tinnitus arised during treatment and it is still there. I have learned to live with it, but I hear/feel it everyday. I think it can be caused by the anaemia. For me the condition has become a chronic illness. I have read about some positive results from Sweden by using Prozac. As a side effect tinnitus was reduced in a group treated for another illness.

Good luck and have a nice weekend
