effects of sun exposure

With spring approaching, I’m curious about the effects of sun exposure while on traditional treatment. After 8 weeks of treatment and a harsh winter, I am already suffering from extremely dry skin but does SOC cause one to burn easier in the sun?

thx, Toa

When I first started Tx last spring the nurse told me to stay out of the sun.  I live in Southern California, It's always sunny!  She said she had a patient who was a baseball coach who had a severe skin reaction while outdoors.
I lathered on the sunscreen and wore a hat.
Now it's winter and we have had a lot of rain.
I have been cold and depressed and have started hanging out in the sun when it's out.
I would say, 10-15 minutes.  I have not had any reactions.
Although, I don't have any medical advice, it's what I am experiencing,
I can relate. Also, the meds really dehydrates your skin, the winter probably makes it worse, but regardless, you are going to have that probably.
Best of luck,
V

From watching my husband on treatment, YES, sun sensitivity for him was very noticeable.  It became a daily routine to lather down with moisturizer followed by SPF 70 on all exposed skin.  (When the burns got bad, he added hydrocortisone under the moisturizer.)  Because he works outdoors, he had to take additional precautions like wearing long-sleeved shirts (or baseball shirts), and baseball caps helped to keep his face protected -- somewhat uncomfortable in the warmer weather, but preferable to burning and sloughing skin.

I think most people on tx have problems with being in the sun to much, but i have to say for me it was never a problem. Now the heat got to me alot more then normal.... But i've always been sort of an odd-ball.......... Wishing you the best.
