elevated enzyme question

by valger, Nov 27, 2002 12:00AM
Hi, I was wondering about elevated enzymes and the risk of having AIH.  I have had elevated enzymes for about 6 months that I know of now, they are not elevated too badly, somewhere in the 80 range for ALT, which should be something like 50 I think, and my AST is elevated just slightly.  But, I heard something about AIH and how the symptoms can be just the elevated enzymes.  I had a sonogram that showed fatty infiltration of the liver, and I am overweight, and have cholesterol a bit higher than it should be, so my doctor said I probably have fatty liver.  I was just wondering if most doctors check for AIH if you have elevated liver enzymes at all.  My aklaline phospatase was within the normal limits, and my prothrombin time was also normal.  It was just the ALT, the AST, and something called GGT I think was elevated just a bit.  Thanks a lot for any help!!  I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!!  Val
