elevated vitamin B12

by Maria49, Jun 18, 2008 05:26PM
I am 57 yeras old Asian working in the lab and I recently had a blood test. I asked the technician to run all available test in the instrument and I found out that my B12 is 1,300 ( normal = 600 to 900) My amylase and lipase are also elevated a little bit. I have Barrett syndrome and I take nexium 40 mg daily. I also take Diovan and Toprol XL for my hypertension. Once in a while I take centrum. I read that elevated B12 is an indication of a serious disease. Please advise. Thank you

If you took the blood draw just after digesting the vitamin - then the b12 might not have absorbed as fast...

Or if you drank any number of products that contain a lot of B12 - you could have just not digested it properly.

Retest after fasting 10-12 hours ---- ask your doctor for more information.

I don't think elevated b12 means you have Hepatitis C because during TX I had to take vitamin b12 shots - and I still do - but they don't seem to do much more than make me feel a little better.
