I had similar situation, I just recently had my bloodwork done and it came back elevated (I have only the antibodies, no virus) and my doc did an ultrasound and they said that is fine, so now I'm going to go in and talk with him and see what was high, how much and what could be the source of this.. as my levels have never bene high... so my advice for you, would be go in and talk with your doctor directly and find out what's going on. Good luck with everything, and please don't worry about the baby, there's never a reason to terminate, and there's high possibilty he/she won't ever be affected by your hep c. and the baby is just so precious!
they never explained to me they just said my results were elevated the liver...im not on anyy drugs i dont drink and i dont smoke, they never said how high they never really tell me much i feel like they are trying to skip around the truth.......i know there is a small percent of babys that get it...but everyday i look at my son and pray his results are negative....i guess i wil find out soon enough.....
Stop worrying. Are you sure he said your viral levels were elevated or do you mean your liver enzymes (ALT/AST) are elevated? If enzymes, how high and is there anything else that could be elevating them, like over the counter medications? If virus load, how high? Many of us women on this forum had many babies while we had the virus. Very few were born with the virus and some babies clear the virus on their own. I also believe that the cure is just around the corner (even 10 or 20 years from today would leave a child born this year with good odds).
I do not see any good reason why any doctor would tell you to terminate your baby because it might have hep c.They are very close to finding a cure for this virus. And even if your baby had hep c which I believe the chances are very small you can deal with that when your baby is born.Hep c is a very slow disease and the chances are very good they will find a cure before it would do any damage to your baby. Please don`t worry and take care.
