I did the first few months of treatment.  My theory is that the body was killing more virus than my eliminatory organs could dispose of efficiently.  What than happens is the lymphatic system becomes clogged.  Like backed up freeway traffic.

I just completed therapy with full strength Pegasys and Copegus for 24 weeks. 4th week into therapy I started getting enlarged lymph nodes in the groin close the injection sites. I was always paranoid about giving the shots in my belly, so I rotated locations in my thighs which worked well. The nodes stayed swollen all during therapy, and I have completed therapy, and 3 weeks post therapy, they are still slightly swollen. They were painful, and larger during therapy, but have went down to pinto bean size as of today.

I am also HIV+ for close to 20 years. My doc told me that it could take 4-8 weeks for the nodes to resume normal size. He is one of the leading specialists in infectious disease here in Kentucky. My blood counts did get low at one point, but rebounded pretty well.

Prior to HCV therapy, I had a small Epididymitis infection that never got a chance to be treated. Most men my age at 27 with Epididymitis get it from unsafe habits they shouldn't be doing, but mine was the result of a prior urinary tract infection a couple months before. I don't really have any symptoms of lymphoma, being that my node swelling is painful and more than likely the result of a bacterial infection that has just been ongoing.

No, it's not uncommon to have lymph node swelling during therapy, especially if you are co-infected with HIV like me. My immune system is low, but slowly rising back, and my doctors have even told me I should make a good recovery post therapy.

I am HCV genotype 3a, 24week tx, 4 weeks in dropped from 1.4 million copies to 122,000 HCV RNA copies. At week 12 I was undetected, and 1 week after therapy undetected. I am currently waiting 2 months for the 3rd month labs.

niceguy, if you want to talk more about it, we should chat on Yahoo, MSN, Skype, ICQ or AOL. I am here for you bro.
