Enlarged spleen in hepatitis C is seen in portal hypertension where the blood flow is obstructed usually due to cirrhosis.Doctor will usually want to check for varices which carry risk of bleeding .
This topic is best addressed face to face with the doctor rather than on the forum at this stage

Im stage 2 also with a slightly enlarged spleen, I bet it is a side of hepc, not cirrhosis, at least I hope .

Hi egypt.  If the docs have found an enlarged spleen (and if she has Hepatitis C) this finding wouldn't be unusual  (as you can see from others who have helped you.)  If she has Hep C, treatment  (for the hep)  could help her spleen because it would help her liver.  You've gotten good advice here.  Please don't feel you can't come here and ask questions.  Some doctors are not willing (and even if they are, they may not have time)  to answer questions by family members.  That's why there are hep C forums (with some very knowledgeable people who are willing to try to help :)

Hope you find the answers, and I hope she'll get better.

My last ultrasound showed slight enlargement of spleen.I have advanced fibrosis, possible stage 1 cirrhosis.I took this to be due to backing up of blood flow.
I am re-treating right now and my head is not in a place where I want to Google my way through a maze of complications,so rather than speculate I am going to admit that I don't really know the answer to your query.I'll get back to this topic when I'm feeling a little more upbeat,

I was told I have an enlarged spleen, although none of my reports show this. Perhaps the dr's just 'assume' it. Both the Hemo and GI didn't make much of it when I asked and the GI said he didn't believe he needed to check my varices (after an ERCP)...but then you know how I feel about my dr. Goldyn, I'm with you...I hope it doesn't mean anything!

Nope, they didnt' compare it to anything, since it was my first one. One dr. said it just came with having Hep C....
