extremely elevated ggt

by philly127, May 26, 2008 03:05PM
For the past 8 years my ggt has increased to the point of it now being around 290. All other tests are normal and my doctor is not concerned since he said if it was serious that some other liver enzymes would also be high. I don't drink but for years I have taken 4 vicodans and 4 soma daily. 7.50/500 and 350 mg. I take many supplements including milk thistle and sam e. Is there anything I can do to lower this. I also have had pain in my upper right side for many years. Could it just be the tylenol in the pain meds. I have no insurance so it's hard to go have tests done. Thanks.

Some drugs can elevate GGT.  You should see a GI specialist and get the tests done.  If you do a Google search on GGT you will get useful information on what it can mean.
