Thanks for the info everyone.  It is so cool for me to read about double-digit weeks. (I am on  week 1).

When I did my injection, I sent out love and healing to all of us.  Reminds me that I am not alone in this Tx.

Didnt hear any mention of any food in that account of your first 24-36 hrs. Gotta eat and take your riba with food and some fat. Ice cream, cookies and milk, cheese. my fav is the cookies. Helps with absorption. Fruits and veggies need to be eaten for your vitamins. Good nutrition!!!

here is my honest assesment of how it hit me,spent three hours talking to daughter and son- in -law on back porch.i felt slightly tired untill they left then immediately started having chills very similar to running a fever.12 midnight .piled on some blankets and finally dozed off after about an hour.woke up at 4 am to ****(i drank my 140  ounces of water... insanity...)while draining it i started spinning kinda like when you get drunk for the first time.i dove for the couch and left a nice trail of urine.awoke at 8am took 3 riba pills and woke up and felt better for about three hours.decided to go pick up a load of 60 boxes for my wifes business.was fine till i spent 30 minutes in the sun.drove home with the flu crawled in bed for three hours.got up at 7 pm and took two more riba pills now kinda feel better.seems the riba pills actually bring me out of the funk.oh well hope thats not too much drama.

Just did shot 5 last night. No flu like sx at this point. Thank God! Mostly just fatigue that hits at about 3pm every day. So i try to rest then and go to bed early. I have found that water is the key to feeling better. Maybe flushes those dead dragons out of the body. So please, drink LOTS. It will help. My ANC dropped to 420 my 3rd week in and so now I am also on neupogen. HGB slowly dropping but maybe i will compensate. You will do this and come out on the other side with flying colors and Clear VL. Just stay positive. Good Luck.  Oh, and rather grumpy too. I just try to remember that when dealing with people.

Sounds like you are doing great.  I didn't have much of a shot reaction either.  My hardest part of tx was the last part - say after week 36.  However at first i was amazed.  I did my shot on Friday nights, thinking I could rest on Saturday.  Instead, I had these amazing bursts of energy. That only lasted until about week 12, unfortunately.

I consider the first 12 weeks the break- in period.  I think the body takes that long to adjust to these medications.  After that the reaction to the shot became for predictable for me.  I think my low was about 5 or 6 days after the shot.

freeman -- still a bit early for the rash.  It will probably find you one of these days.  Enjoy it while it lasts.  I never had a bad rash.  I had it once or twice when I had too much sun.  Sun and riba don't mix too well.  What I did have later was more like creeepy-crawly under the skin itching.  Not much helped except the Gold Bond with the menthol in it.

good luck to both of you.

Welcome to the forum.

The nurse went over everything at my first appt for injection, and suggested that I do it, since I'd be doing the following 47.   I didn't want to show up each week for an appt.  #6 tonight.  The process gets easier each week.  Try to relax and not worry too much at this point.  And drink lots of water.

Best of luck with the trt.
