a) Silica : For pustules or pit forming pimples on face.
b) Thuja : For pimples on nose and face.
c) Hepar Sulph : For pimples having white pus.
d) Aurum Ars : For pimples on face.

Obviously, this young lady needs some personal HCV counseling. Just so happens I have a little time on my hands this week :)

I've also been using a Clindamycin preparation. The clinda was prescribed each morning followed in the evenings with Metrogel and Rezamid on alternating days. I think the clinda was for the seb derm (including itching) and the Metrogel and Rezamid for the Rosacea. When I start to "flake" -- seb derm -- sometimes I add Elidel Cream. Right now, don't use anything daily but only as needed. BTW the Clindamycin is good for any skin irritation like shaving bumps, etc. Glad the clinda seems to be working for you as well.

All the best,

Here's a better injection diagram for the front areas (see "E") and note again that you should avoid the area around belly button and waist line.

Here's a link to the diagram at the 'Janis' site I forgot to post. again, avoid the area surrounding the belly button as well as the waist line. The diagram doesn't make this as clear as it should.

Thanks Nice and I will look into the suggestions and do thank your dad.  Actually, SC is partially correct, I'm fortunatly not with Ros(cea)as much as I've been in the past as things started to partially clear at the post-tx six month point but that may partly have to do with the end of the summer sun which aggravated things.  Next time you speak to your dad, mention I don't have so much the pimples and pustules (pustular acne) any more -- or to a very minor extent -- but more erythma (redness) especially when exposed to the sun (or other irritatnts) even when wearing a heavy sunscreen.

As to your injections, I also injected a few bubbles by mistake -- as a number of others here have reported the same -- and no problems. I mentioned it to my nurse practioner and she said not to worry (I forgot to "flick" them out on my first injection as well).

As to site irritation, the key is to rotate the shots. Here's a diagram from the 'Janis and Friends' site which shows a number of locations. I stopped using my thighs early-on in treatment because I lost most of my fat (and muscle) in that area and therefore rotated left upper abodmen, left lower abdomen, right upper abdomen, left lower abdomen, right lover handle, left lover handle, etc. The chart depicted is not drawn as well as others so make sure you avoid injecting around the belly button and waist line, but you can inject above and below the waist line as per the diagram. The other locations -- upper arms, back, butocks -- are also good choices but you will need your nurse to do those for you unless you are very flexible :)

The nausua and acid reflux after the shot --

For the acid reflux, if it's chronic (or starts to become chronic),  talk to your doctor about a PPI like Nexium, Aciphex or Prilosec. If it's just after your shot, maybe an OTC H-2 Pump like Zantac 100 (xtra strength) would help on shot days. You could also take a simple antacid like Tums with the caution that you should not take tums (or any antacid) within 2-3 hours of taking your ribavirin. The nausea may or may not be related to the reflux -- it could just be related to the interferon directly.

Hope this finds you well, and thanks again for the rosacea info.

All the best,

-- Jim
