gall bladder / digestive problems

anyone have gallstones/gallbladder problems and/or digestive disorders like constipation, etc. before tx? my ultrasound showed multiply gallstones and i'm afraid that if my gallbladder craps out during tx and has to be taken out it would interrupt tx. i guess my question is will the tx meds affect a bad gallbladder? will getting the gallbladder out before tx help in anyway? i have been avoiding getting it out because i have read and know a few people that wish they had not had it taken out. thanks for the help

I had the gallstone problems in 1999, had to have gall bladder removed which is when they found out I had hep c.
I am hearing more and more gall bladder problems associated with hepatitis c. In my opinion it is just  another one of our organs that this virus attacks as well as the brain etc which is why we are all having the cognitive/depression issues. (another story).
I did the tx in 2004, relapser. geno 3. fibrosis 2.

Don't have your gallbladder out!  Try Hulda Clark's Liver/gallbladder flush before you do it.

I had gall bladder problems also and had 2 really bad attacks tohat sent me to the emergency room. The 2nd time having to get my gall bladder removed. I asked if it was related to my hep and was told no. I have since learned through reserch and talking to many others including a thread on this site that the two were most likely related to one another. I do not know if getting it out as you ask helps or not as I prefer to keep all my body parts unless absolutely neccessary to have any removed. I will say this though, when I had my attacks they were bad and very painful. It felt like I was in the movie Aliens when that creature came our of the peoples stomach. The first time it happened I did not what was happening to me. It hurt so bad I could not even catch my breath. I was told that the gall stones were lodged in my bile ducts causing intense pressure.

When I had my bx I was told casually oh did you know you have gallstones?  I didn't think anything of it.  Then when I was on week 12 of tx I was rushed to er with unbearable pain.  My gallbladder had to be removed.  I had my meds brought to the hospital and I continued tx. Didn't miss a pill or shot.  If I had  known more,  I would have had it removed before. But it still worked out ok now on week 35/48

I have had my gallbladder out and I do not have that problem.  I have heard of it but was told it happens in about 30% of people with their gallbladder out and they have medication for it which is a powder supplement you can use.  Even if I did have that problem...I would much rather have that then the pain of the attacks I was having.  If I wasn't having attacks then I would not have gotten it out but those attacks were painful and effecting my daily life.

Just my experience with it.  : )

thanks for the responses , to all that had their gallbladder out what about all the horror stories about problems after getting it out? having to run to the bathroom right after eating,  diarrhea, etc? i dont mean just after surgery, some say they have it forever.

I also had Gall bladder probs.  Was DX for HepC when they found the gall bladder probs.  They went ahead and removed it before TX so as not to cause more probs.  Also had to have another surgery before tx as the day I was supposed to start TX they found an ovarian cyst and they felt it was better to remove first rather than having to have a surgwery while on TX.
It's been a H3ll of a year I'll tell you. 2 surgeries and hep DX started TX in July and laid off work in oct.  No wonder I am going back to psy for better depression meds lol.

I had to have my gallbladder removed prior to tx. My doc said tx could make the symptoms worse and having an emergency surgery on tx is bad.  To confirm that the gallbladder was bad I had the hida scan with ejection fraction and found my gallbladder was really bad.  I am so glad I had it taken out as the pathology report showed it to be completely damaged and now I don't have the attacks anymore and thank goodness I can finally eat again.  I am very happy that I had it taken out....recovery was not bad at all.

I don't have any of the problems with diarhea (diarrhea) but I know some do. I believe it is related to the amount of fried foods you eat at least that was the way it was with my aunt. You just have to watch what you are eating and limit (not remove) the foods that gave you indigestion before and very little fried stuff.  Although once in a while I will make fried chicken or potatoes and as long as I don't pig out then I am fine.

Also before I had mine out I found I was becoming lactose intolerant (never was before I was 40) and now I am better able to digest milk products.  I would hate to never be able to have cerial or worse yet ice cream again.
