Bright red indicates something more serious and since you are trickling that is not right. As you have read here these meds can cause thrombocytopenia putting you at a greater risk. What was your last hemoglobin and hemotocrit? When my Hct. fell to 24.4 and then to 15.4 I was passing out standing, sitting, and lying and had to have transfusions. Please go to the hospital but if you are bound and determined to wait until tomorrow get on that sofa, prop your legs up, keep a pad count and the time, drink plenty of fluids, and when you start to get up ease yourself up gently to sitting position and sit until your head clears and then stand up. You are having what is called orthostatic blood pressure meaning it dips too low for your body to handle at that moment. Now rest and take it easy. Keep your phone handy in the event you should need to call 911. I am so happy to feel that someone needs me istead of me needing someone. It helps give me a purpose in life. Prayers. Post tomorow and let me know what he says. I care.

When my rbc lowered, even a tad below normal, I noticed the increased bleeding at menses time.  I even bled through the gauze at blood drawing time, which I never did before.  I saw bruises where no bumps have occurred, short of breath and after two months of low rbc, chest pain.  some of us are quite sensitive to the tiniest drop in bc.  do check with your GYN, but I suspect the rbc.  maybe one vial of Procrit can improve the condition.  I would not use inorganic iron, it can interact with some beneficial antioxidants like vit e.  I would try iron rich foods, vit b12 and folic acid.  You won't believe what a little bit of reduction in rbc can do to my body.  you are younger so your flow is still larger than mine, but these changes are definetely rbc related, in my view.  My ignorant PA rejected the notion, but she had also rejected the fact that the Bextra caused GI prob, tho it was stated in the PDR...rule things out with the GYN and talk to dr baby brown about Procrit short term.

ah! i remember no menses for years while breastfeeding also.
be well

Yes...Catherine has good advice and you didn't say...are you feeling extra weak or bad?  And yes...the meds can mess with our menses so much and its hard on the women because we hate to bring it up in forum but on otherhand....we need to know,,what is norm and not.  Ok...For me...Out of 4 months,,,I have only had one period.  And it was a doozy...Lasted 4 solid weeks...I was afraid like Catherine said...you may pass out and someone find you later LOL  It finally stopped and havent had one since so its crazy!  Check with your dr in morning if you are having other symptoms,,,other then that...eat MORE red meat..LOL  Prop your feet up as much as possible and baby yourself until you feel a little stronger.  As far as vitamins,,,I take the no iron but really don't think some for a week would hurt but I don't know if it is going to help with your problem either.  I'm sorry I'm not more help but just figure one day after tx...maybe or hopefully things will get back to normal!  And unless...your bloodwork takes a dive,,,,you will be through now in 8 weeks!! Yeah!

Is your bleeding bright red or the standard dark red? Are you passing clots and if you are are they stringy or clump form? Do you feel it or just when your pad or tampax starts feeling uncomfortable? Has it ever gushed out? Are you pregnant and maybe, God forbid, having a miscarriage? Are you light headed? Call you doc tomorrow first thing and if that bleeding does become heavier go to the ER. You have to remember you are compromised so something has to be done before you are found passed out in a puddle of blood. Good luck and prayers.

I will suggest this again in this post:
acidophilus/intestinal/yogurt bacteria replacement.  the health food stores sell them in pill and liquid form.  the pharmacy carries foil envelopes in the fridge filled with bacteria powder(yogurt culture) in high potency for severe diarrhea.
You will not hear most drs suggest it, unless you mention it first.  My toddler had diarrhea for a week, tried the BRAT diet, meds, etc.  Within hrs of taking the culture she was back to normal. The ER dr did not suggest it until I ask if I should.  She said she reccomends it, frequently. It has been my experience that it clears the loose stools within hours.   What have you got to loose?  you have "washed" out the colonies of beneficial flora with the diarrhea and the body has not been able to replenish it.   good luck

I had my gallbladder removed about 11 years ago. at that time I was not diagnosed with hcv however now that doc says that I have probably had it about 26 years.
Since then I have found that stools are alwys very soft but that the diarahea only comes real bad after eating certain foods.
I have completely eliminated them from my diet. Quite honestly I had to do a trial and error on the foods. some veggies seem to make things worse than others. now with the hep c I see that alot of these foods are what people suggest to eat.
recently I have started having very light colored stool and diarhea coming back
for me anyway I had to avoid green peppers, onions, cheese ( funny that always plugged up my daughter when she was a baby), applesauce, corn, and stuff like cool aid and frozen canned juice
the bananas are always a great idea to have they can make you go yuck alot but if you can try and eat about 2 a day that always helped make the le poo poos stop
good luck to you

Has your stool been checked for C-diff? Is it orange-reddish and stinks to high heaven. Not the usual BM smell but acrid. I can sniff C-diff out and numerous doctors have thanked me over the years for just going ahead and sending the stool so tx could be started. I think your drs. need to be more concerned about that weight loss. Keep hydrated. Can you eat a banana or if you can't what about baby food? Used to hand out a lot of baby food for diarrhea because it is easier to digest. Watch out for the dairy products and weakened jello, apple juice, and flat sprite is also good. If you start having leg cramps your potassium is low and that is life threatening since you are all ready in a weakened state. Can you take Kaopectate or better, paragoric? Pedialyte, which we give to babies, is also good. Gatorade is too harsh. Prayers.

welcome there struggler.
That a computer question motivated you to join the hep c chat it's kind of humorous.
TY for that info, it works on the mac also. if there is more than one way to do things, I always pick the easiest.
Do share your hcv experience, we all have something someone can find of use.  You are the 3rd combo person I've heard of in this forum, vicki and susan are the other 2.  Please join in with your experiences even if not on tx.

Try "Ensure" products, available at drugstores; about 3 of those are supposed to provide an adult's daily nutritional needs.  They can supplement whatever you do eat.  Each can is ~one cup, comes in several flavors, and is supposed to go down like a milk-shake.  Good luck.  MN

By any chance, were you retaining a lot of water before this event?  were you at a pretty good weight?
are you drinking tons of water now?  what did they tell you about eating and drinking, are you at risk of washing out too many minerals, etc.?  is Gatorade safe for you?
Did your doctor caution you in any way to avoid certain food types?  If not, lean proteins should be good:  fish, chicken breast, tofu, eggs, etc.  If you can keep them down, eat foods high in fiber, they should add bulk to what's in your GI tract.  Maybe you can eat high calories, too.  I admit that I know nothing about gall bladder problems... just considering keeping your weight and maybe resolving the trots.
I hope that you will soon have your health problems resolved.

Hi, Scott,
Thanks for the great link.  I'm forever telling people to be selective about where (on the internet) they get their info. With medical & health info, you have to be especially careful.  So sites from Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, NIH, etc. are reliable, whereas with "Dr.XYZ" or "The Acme Institute" you can't be sure.
Even with the good names, it's easy to err... similarly to going to whitehouse.com... I'm still somewhat pedestrian on the computer, and wondered if it were possible to also, in addition to the links, put cut-&-paste addresses for the other sites you are recommending.  You see, if I link to the site, like it, and want to bookmark it, it comes back to the MedHelp home base.  I have figured out how to get the real addy, but it was harder when I was fogged and had *phat* fingers.
How are you doing in these extension weeks?  I'm looking forward to seeing you and Mike and a bunch of other good people crossing the line.
Best,
Maj Neni
