thank you....my son has hep c and just told me that he has a and b....i am learning about this disease.....my test results came back negative today so i am happy about that....he hasnt said a type number but i will ask him next time he calls me.....i dont hear from him everyday as he is in prison for 120 days shock treatment.....how serious is it to have a and b? is there a genotype that is more serious than others?
yes - genotypes are numbered - the common ones are 1-4. There are subspecies in each genotype and those are labeled a and b ( never seen any others)
You can also have more than one genotype and one of them not show up when it is "typed."
