Thanks to all of you for your supoport.  i am happy to have cleared the virus w/o tx.  But i am also  so sad and feel quite guilty sometimes when i think of all of those out there who are suffering.  I continue to pray for all of you who are suffering from this terrorist.  And shed a heartfelt tear when i read your touching posts.

Could you share more information about your experience?  I'm really curious about this.  How did you discover that you had the virus?  Did you ever experience symptoms?  Did you have a measurable VL at one point and then later is was unmeasurable?  Did you ever have a biopsy?  Do you know approximately how long you were infected with the virus prior to clearing it?

I'm not getting my hopes up that I'll be as lucky as you, but I'm nonetheless interested in what happens in cases like yours.  You certainly do have a lot to smile about!  Best wishes to you.

I would be glad to share everything,
i believe that i got infected at age 17 about 10 yrs ago.  7 years ago i was diagnosed.  at that time i had a load of 1165 and elevated liver enz.  unfortunatley i didnt care and continued to live distructivly for 4 more years during which time i had no more tests done.   then 3 years ago i became pregnant with my son.... terrified that i was going to give it to him i informed my ob dr. who explained that the prob. was low that he would have it but that i should take care of my self and monitor my own condition.... i have been every since with a load of <200 and recently <10 i wish i could offer more answeres than that, no i never did have a biopsy.... although i am trying to get one just in case right now... another person on this forum who you could speak with is jg2001 i understand they cleared on their own too.  wish i could be of more help.....best wishes and prayers.....mysmiles*

Praise God for those that are able to clear on their own. It is truly a miracle.

My Smiles:

I wonder if your pregnancy had anything to do with it.  A few months ago, I posted a link to an article on a recent Japanese study that found a significant number of women with HCV cleared the virus after becoming pregnant.  They didn't understand how or why this was happening, but did believe there was indeed a correlation between pregnancy and clearing the virus.

Cuteus:
Thanks I did see the earlier post from JP.  Another amazing story.

Hi Vicki, I am a 46 yr old male, hcv type 1a, stage 2, on week 26 of Pegasys/Copegus 1200 mg. At weeks 4,8,12 my quantitive viral load was undetectable, and my week 24 qualitative tma pcr was negative. I don't mean to butt in to a conversation, but i have to ask you a question. Do you really believe treatment is just a Hoax? Good luck to you, Dutchman

Hey Vicki, my hepatologist started me out on 800mg, then 1000mg, then later 1200mg of Copegus. He told me that as my body gets used to the ribavirin (i could never see how that could happen), increasing the dose slowly reduces the chances of anemia. you are doing great with that huge viral load drop, that is a good sign. Just remember, everyones different, maybe its the body's metabolism. who knows? i sure the heck don't. what i do know is your heading in the right direction and thats a fact. i will be pulling for you hun. oh yes, i do understand what you mean by the "Other Stuff" thing. take care, Dutchman :)

Treatment is not a hoax.

I can attest to that.  I know that there are others that can acknowledge that...type 1's and two's alike.

The most miserable 6 months of my life during treatment bought me the rest of my life without the thought living day to day with HepC.  Though we all want to think that there is a lesser intrusive treatment coming so, reality is that it is the best that is offered at this point in time.

Question is...are the odds off success worth it?  That is a question only you can ask yourself.

Ask the folks going through their third attempt who are type 1's, and what their motivation is for enduring it again.   Everyone has th will to live...but the question is what is the quality of life that we are willing to live for the long term, given our current choices.

Hmmmm.......
