I'm a 2/2 and I  was told It's considered mild/moderate.  I'm in my 16th week of combo therapy, clear at 8 weeks, G1, 5.2M VL.

Its in between. Not good not that bad.
Basically it means damage is occuring.
Its the stage where Tx really needs to be considered, even though you still have time up your sleave.

what did your doctor tell you? Are you treating?
Your hepatologist should explain this to you so you can understand. This is the important stuff and you need to learn and educate yourself.

As far as your Stage 2- your in the middle.

Well basically remember no amount of liver damage is "good" after all.  You are in the middle and still have time BUT - liver damage does NOT happen on any scale ratio type thing. Like if it took you 25 years to become a stage 2 it doesn't mean it will take another 25 years to become a stage 4. That COULD happen in just a few years or a year or never.

That's the problem - we just don't know.  That is why I think once we are passed stage one we really have to treat it as the serious disease and matter that it is.

I hope that helps - I don't mean it to sound so morbidly frightful but it IS a disease that can kill us and well we do need to remember that in the end.

There was a picture in one of the books on what the different stages of liver damage look like and until I saw what my liver looked like in comparison to a healthy liver (I'm stage 3) I really didn't understand at all.  I wish I could find that picture again it was in one of the booklets the doctor gave me when I was diagnosed.

i'm stage 1 to2 ...grade 2...my doctor as well as most folks say wait for better treatments...from what i understand its very posible to improve your grade and stage by living as healthy as you can...no drinking no smoking eating right getting exercise, and getting enough sleep...i don't know..i'm trying so we will see in time as i take the chance and wait for hopefully better treatments in a few years...billy

I assume your son has probably not been diagnosed with Hep C so far. Although it could be hep c, there are so many reasons for elevated liver enzymes that your doctor would need to investigate and my guess, although I am no doctor, is that this isn't hep c.

I think that mono or hep a which both are acute infections which will go away after a while can cause that kind of liver enzyme elevation. There are a lot of other possibilities many not so serious, and some serious, and only your doctor can diagnose what's causing it.

I know you are scared, but try to remain calm and find out what's the cause before you panic!

Good luck and I hope they have an answer for you soon.

I agree with the above posts, but I wanted to add one point that I have read more than once. Age is a big factor in how fast the damage occurs too. After 50, things start going downhill faster than before 50, so keep that in mind when considering if you should wait to treat or go ahead.

good luck to you and Judy today, we are all in your corner. The poster tagged onto a thread started in 2007 and it looks like sfwandwow has not posted since december 2008.
Anyway the poster who tagged on to the thread was asking about his one year old son.
