I had a liver transplant about 15 years ago and it was from hep c from a tatoo...well, I have done great until recently, I have hep c back, I am yellow, tired, feel bad but, now the dr. says I  have kidney disease too. The problem is , where I go to the dr. I have only seen the dr. once. and it is an hour from my house. I was told to have another biopsy of my liver, I did that, no one called for three weeks. I finally called, the nurse told me I had kidney disease from a blood test I had had, months ago when I went to a kidney dr...its crazy, he did not tell me I had liver disease then..anyway..what in the world is going to happen if I have hep c back and kidney disease too??? I cannot get in to see the liver dr. unti. Nov..I am very worried...I hope someone can help me...dianee

My jaundice was comming back slowly and between all this I had had a blood test and they wanted me to start on the meds for hep c.They make me fee so bad I was going to wait until this month to start it. I was suppose to get a call from the office to tell me when my biopsy was. I waited 5 weeks then I called them. I got in for that last week. I  have no problems with urinating, or no symptoms of kidney disease. I called about my biopsy yesterday. The nurse told me that" well, u have kidney disease and your hep c is back." I was like .".I know the hep is back, but no one told me about kidney disease?"??
They wouldn't tell me anything else I had to make an appt. Not till NOv. 6, **** by then I could be dead! I decided to call my kidney dr. Monday and get in there soon, hoping next week. It is crazy when your dr's dont call and let u know about your tests...so I have had some kind of kidney thing going on who knows how long and no one even bothered to call me...Thanks for the prayers so much, I am very worried!!!

Wow, 15 years post transplant.  When did you first start noticing symptoms for Hep C returning.  I am post transplant sine June of 07 and I'd be very happy with 15 years out of a new liver.

Did you do treatment for HCV?

I am still considering whether to do treatment or not.

Hope this doesn't come off as snide, about the 15 years, it is just that from all that I have read that is a really long time to survive post transplant with HVC.  I like to hear all about your story.

As for your current situation I wish you the best of luck and I will pray for you.

Bob
