It would take too long to answer your questions here.
Go to www.hivandhepatitis.com and you will find all the information you need.
Come back here to talk about your own case once you have a little basic knowledge.

Anyone seen Dyce and Beamish lately? I think Beamer was getting hit pretty hard by fatigue but I haven't seen Dyce lately.

Hey, the dyce man was around yesterday, this time a year is hard on us country folks... the old make hay while the sun shines... I even drop my movie channels in the summer, cause we don't come in until dark = bedtime ;) I suspect he's got the spring fever, and out working one of his houndpups..I personally just got 24 pullets. Told the hubby it specifically said in the literature that I was not to nuzzle, kiss, or otherwise show physical affection.... salmonella issues...So lets think positive-- oh yeah, he's patching a roof where a pipe blew up some ceilings... right can man?

Not sure what Beamer does in his spare time....

I have no real issue with dairy and I wouldn't worry about it affecting treatment, except maybe in a positive fashion. I've been more or less eliminating (lets say cutting down) on darity recently because of my GERD, cholesterol, digestive and skin issues. This is not to say dairy is making things worse, just experimenting a bit. Had some low fat buffalo yogurt for breakfst. Yummy.

Hepatitis C is caused by a virus. It is transmitted by blood to blood contact. More common routes sharing of transmission include
sharing equiptment used for IV drug use and transfusions with contaminated blood. Less common transmission routes include unprotected sex with an infected partner, unsterile tatoo equiptment, sharing razor blades and toothbrushes, needlesticks in a medical setting, mother to baby.

Incubation period is one to six months.

Have you been diagnosed with Hepatitis C?

I woke up screaming about 5 this morning with a charlie horse in my leg - YOWSER! - and I didn't think it would ever stop! I was finally able to put my leg down on the floor and put a little weight on it and it kind of eased. My dog and two cats looked at me like I was nuts cause I was hollering and hopping around. My big fat cichlids even were swimmming in the front of the tank looking at me. Wasn't that you talking about a charlie horse in the middle of the night???? I don't think I ever had that before - felt like it lasted about an hour, but it was probably more like 5 minutes. I have to wonder what I did to myself to deserve that! It was even kind of sore all day. :o(

Rocker your down to the last dirty hundreds, just like nygirl
and she was clear at 24 but i think your doctor gives you more frequent pcrs and thats a good thing to know exactly what week you cleared, not much longer rocker i know the waiting is hard.

You are heading in the right direction and you will probably get the coveted undetectible at your next PCR. When are they going to give you another? Maybe 16 weeks? Keep that great attitude going!

I've been more or less eliminating (lets say cutting down) on dairy recently

Well at least you're eliminating. Trust me when I say that's a good thing....

Forseegood - Saw your post on Psylium (sp). I was off the stuff while on tx, but I'm easing back onto it now... I'm a fan of the Trader Joe's stuff.

It's made for people who are sensitive to fiber, hey, if youre reading Jimbo, maybe good for you too! always like to see people with good elimination!!! it makes them perfect, you'll see what I mean!!!!

Curious, what ultimate fiber are you referring too? At this point if I elimnate any more, I'll probably disappear in a week.

I also use a Real-Time PCR with sensitivity <50. However, in addition I use a quantitative TMA with a sensitivity of 5 IU/ml. The article is incorrect in that real time PCR's are replacing other quantitative and qualitative tests. Newer studies suggest that the lower the detection limit, the more useful information available. For this reasons, tests like Heptimax combine real time PCRs with TMA technoloogy in a two-step, albeit two-step process. Some folks doctors -- Goofy's I think -- will combine a real time PCR (or a qunatitative Bdna) with a TMA qualitative. The first has captures a broad range of viremia and is quite accurate, the second has great sensitivity down to 5-10 IU/ml. In your case, I suggest you use something like Heptimax for your next PCR. If you come out negative -- and it looks like you will -- you really want to be sure that you're <5IU/ml negative, not simply <50 IU/ml negative. A recent small study posted recently by Goofy suggests a significant number of folks proved negative by PCR but postitive by more sensitive TMA. 100% of this group relapsed.

Unrelated -- about how much flax would you suggest a day? Also, can you chew the seeds themselves or is it preferable to buy the ground up ones?

All the best luck moving forward.

spacecoast4 - So is the glass half empty or half full?

I too share your concern about these findings about virus left in cells/body after SVR. I wonder about the significance of finding HepC RNA in liver cells while finding none in the bloodstream. In reading through this great site on the virus

http://www.epidemic.org/theFacts/viruses/

it seems possible to me that the RNA from the HepC virus could potentially get "trapped" in some liver cells if the mechanism in that particular mutated virus did not allow for it or its 100 or so offspring to escape from the cell by combining with the cell membrane. The virus needs to enter a liver cell to replicate and then exit that cell in order to infect more cells when that particular cell dies. HepC according to this site is not a living cell - it is a blueprint looking for a builder and then a taxi out of town. What if these strands of RNA are simply trapped? No way to leave. No taxi. Virus there but no threat because they cannot escape or if they do escape they fail to obtain the protective envelope of cell membrane and are easy targets for the immune system. What if the cells holding these "occult" strands are simply like bomb casings, unexploded and buried - but potentially lethal if they are moved in some particular way. A one percent chance the the right circumstances could start the whole mess going again. I can't believe I am actually thinking about this stuff.

I hadn't realized you started with such a big VL. From 23 million to 400 is great, but, I can feel your disappointment in not being clear. Can you schedule a 16 week and 20 week test? Also what is the sensitivity of the tests you are taking? At this point, like Jim said, you surely want a test with sensitivity less than 50. Since you may want to do 36 weeks after clearing it is most important to know when that clear date is, Rocker. Hey, when does spring hit in the cold north? Are the croccuses and daffodils up yet?

Can you translate the 25-30 grams into tablespoons? Thanks. And do you suggest taking it all at once or a little at each meal?

Regarding Heptimax, if you get a chance please ask your nurse what specifically she doesn't like about Heptimax. False positives? False negatives? I currently use the test but want to know the bad as well as the good.

BTW there are other sensitive tests besides Heptimax. Eisbein mentioned one and Quest has something called a TMA RNA Qualitative that goes down to around 9 IU/ml. This is different from Heptimax and I believe uses the Bayer technology.

I'm with you there on the cummin, I take Tumeric Extract by Vitamin Shoppe, cause the stuff's kinda pricey and this one is pretty good at a more reasonable price, (it's what the average Indian (from India) takes almost everyday in food, for those who are curious) what kind of genseng to you take? thanks for the heads up on the flaxseed, I just take half that much...be well
