Hospitals use autoclaves to sterilize things, but they get a lot hotter than a regular oven. If you are trying to sterilize something for re-use, I would consider the cost for replacement compared to the cost of being infected, or giving it to somebody else.

Hi 7aMaDa,

You're only thirteen years old from Egypt, so you're too young to remember why Egypt has one of the highest rates of Hepatitis C in the world. (It used to have the highest, fifteen percent, if I recollect.)

I don't have time to find the links right now but ironically it was because your country was very health-conscious and undertook a massive national vaccination program to protect its population from a different health concern.

Sadly, it was the vaccination program that spread Hepatitis c through the re-use of the injection apparatus.

You mentioned your grandmother has Hepatitis C. If you are wondering how to sterilize  your grandmother's diabetic needles for re-use, my advice is to not take a chance, ever. The same goes if you didn't even know she has Hepatitis c.

Good luck.

You are safe to eat whatever your grandmother cooks. I know this disease is scary to you.

The only way you could get her hep c is if you both cut yourselves at the same time, and her blood got into your cut. There isn't much chance of that happening.

Didn't we discuss this yesteday 7a about the wound and the blood thing?  You can't get hepc from an open wound and certainly can't get hepc by ingesting it.

You really need to do some research.

Here's a good link.  Educate yourself.
