On my blood test reports it says the following are normal range for ALT and AST:

ALT range - 0-37
AST range - 15-65

so yeah, it looks a little high.  But this doesn't really say what shape your liver is in...sometimes these numbers are high and liver damage is low, or the other way around.    Unfortunatly it doesn't correlate to amount of liver damage, It just means your liver is not happy and spitting out more of the ALT and AST stuff right now.  they can use the ratio of these numbers to tell if the inflamation (inflammation) is from alcohol....

AST/ALT ratio per Wikipedia:

When greater than 2.0, it is more likely to be associated with alcoholic hepatitis[4] or hepatocellular carcinoma

When less than 1.0, it is more likely to be associated with viral hepatitis

Not that Wikipedia is all knowing, ha, it's just the first thing that came up on my search...there are other reasons for your AST and ALT to be high as well.

Those numbers are high, not outrageous but high.
Did you get other labs? Can you post those too?

Just what ever else is on your lab reports...did they check anything other than ALT/ AST?

Some what high, all your results should have a reference range with either a H or L after them......Since your not on treatment and i think you said you are cirrhotic numbers won't tell you much more... more of a concern when your treating.

Molly, do you have  albumin and bilirubin, and prothrombin ?

Here are a couple of web sites to help explain about labs better than I can.

The truth is I'm not the best at reading results, not a doctor nor the best at this kind of thing. Mostly I know what I look for concerning myself.

It's good to see your bilirubin levels aren't elevated.
Your iron is a bit high, you may want to try to limit iron in your diet.

Once again, I encourage you to see a good hepatologist as soon as you are able.
That is your expert who ideally can guide you  towards a life life with a healthy liver.
