hep c stab

Hello I have a serious issue here...I recently think I got poked by a needle or injected by one at a gas station and now I'm worried that I may have contracted hep c. First off I know from the guys gf that he has hep c and that he doesn't like me. I was wearing long sleeves even a leather jacket and he came in the gas station and went up behind me while I was at the front counter and played choked me from, behind and said tour going to die like a joke. He even put his hand near,my throat pretending to slice my neck playfully. But then I started thinking what if he stabbed me with hep c without me feeling it or knowing with a syringe

Am using this scenario for reference.  I accidentally poked my finger with a small safety pin the other night and OMG it hurt.  Just hit the surface but did
I jump.  If someone stuck a needle thru my leather coat and long sleeved shirt (you were wearing) he would have to jab it so hard that I can't imagine you wouldn't have known.  Check your clothing from that night.
Do agree with everyone that you are overly anxious. It may be a good idea to talk to someone regarding your fears.
I do not believe you have been infected by the manner in which you have explained,  but would advise you to get tested. Having Hep C is NOT a death sentence and It's better to be safe then sorry.

Hi

I think if you reread what Rbeth wrote she was saying she lost her fiancé due to his mental health issues.

We here are all concerned about you and what seems to be worry and fears on your part that is having a negative effect on your enjoyment of life and we all hope you seek help from your doctor.

Life is too short to spend it all worrying about things that haven't happened and really even things that have happened.

We here are all more than our common shared health issues. We come here to share support and information but we try not to dwell exclusively on hep c.

There are so many more important things to think about.

Please consider having an honest discussion with your health care professional.

Best of luck to you

It is rare for hepatitis C to be transmitted in the way you have described. Even healthcare workers who get stuck with needles have less than a 2% chance of becoming infected. That means they have a 98% chance of not becoming infected. Also, most people do not die of hep C even if they don't treat. My main concern for you is in the area of mental health. It is painful to live in fear and I am sure you already know that once you clear up one fear, another soon pops up. I agree with Rbeth, seek help with a mental health provider. Good luck.

Hey,

Glad you responded. Thank you so much for your honesty. Many folks here, myself & many others I know & don't know(whew!!) have emotional or organic brain disorders that create fear, panic & paranoid thinking.

There are forums and excellent mental health care available. You deserve to be free of these dreams & fears~ so I ask you, with great care as I lost a fiancé to this, to please find help & treatment. Go to MedHelp again and find mental health help forums. And, see a doc to follow through with care, so you can also live a healthy & happy life. Please! It's more than possible!!

Continued prayers & blessings to you discharged

Thank you for your help I'm just worried...maybe I'm just being paranoid I have often thought people were out to get me like stab me in my sleep with diseases like hiv and now I'm starting to think I'm getting poked by needles. I'm not sure as to why I'm thinking this thought but now it's hep c because I know somebody with it. I do not judge him for it I just know he's not a very nice guy and when I ran into him at the store I'm afraid maybe he secretly poked me with a syringe full of hep c. I just want to know how likely is that. And I got tested because I have a lot of tats and some got infected

Hi,

I'm Rbeth and I have chronic hep C.

Seems like you've been through a lot tonight, so sorry you were (attacked, abused, joked with, unsure by two comments you made) really reaching out for help tonight.

If your concerned about contracting or dealing with hep c, you've certainly come to a good place to talk about it. We really do care, when someone needs or wants help.

You mentioned that you were just tested for hep. Is it okay if I ask you why?
Did you have reason to believe you might have this virus? You also said, if you do, you might die. Sounds like your really scared.

Please know that you can really be honest  here & not worry about people talking. We all have hep c & for many different reasons; surgeries, transfusions, IV drug use, wars, accidents and the list goes on.

The first thing to do -You should definitely see a doctor & find out your condition, if any, Then, if this is what you have, please come back and let us know, to try to help support you & point in a good direction for your health.

Again, we're all here to get better, with no shame about our hep c. I hope this is something you needed to hear. We really do care. I care. So let us know how you are & if we can help you with hep c support.
Thanks discharged!

Blessings to you

There are new very effective treatments available and if you can't get insurance coverage the maker of the new meds has a help program providing free meds to those who qualify and many have gotten free meds from them.

So either you don't have hep c in which case no worries or you take the new meds possibly for free and you get cured so no worries. so either way you have nothing to worry about

Have a good holiday

It was not a choke hold...I was buying beer and the guy wasn't at the counter. This dude who I know had hep c came up behind me and put his fingers out like a,knife and was laughing and said hey I'm,going to kill you. I then turned around and talked to him,for a bit while he himself was buying beer then I,left. Know I'm,trying to know,if he stabbed me with a needle without me feeling it what's funny is I just got hep c and b tested and was negative then I ran, into him at the gas station just my luck eh?

Hi
I suppose it could be possible to not feel it. The best way to know if you did contract hep c is wait 6 months and get tested or better still ask you doctor for their recommendation how to procede from here.

And stay away from that guy. Do not allow him to attack you any further. It is not funny, it is not a joke. If it is unwanted and makes you afraid tell him to stop. It he won't stop and stay away then file a report with the police.

Putting someone in a choke hold is not appropriate behaviour outside a wrestling ring.

If I was stuck with a needle....."I" would feel it.   If your question if you would and have felt a needle prick stick yourself with a pin and see if you felt it.
That's if you had a tetnus shot for a puncture wound.  I really think you would have felt it.

If your concerned you've been infected with Hepatitis C go tested.  Everyone should be tested once in their life.   This would be a good time to find out if you have ever been exposed to Hepatitis C.   I find it odd you would let someone like this in your space.   People don't have any right to touch you without your permission.   This might be a good time to make that crystal clear that you don't want this guy to touch you in anyway.  If he does and you have warned him to not.... call the police.  Don't let some "GUY" scare you.
Tell him to keep his hands OFF off you.

Best to you

Hi
You didn't really ask a question there but any for my 2 cents, the actions of this person constitute assault especially if you were intentionally stuck with a needle contaminated with HCV. That would be considered felonious assult in most states which could result in this individual going to prison.

I urge you to avoid contact with this person and if you are assulted again to contact the police and press charges

Go to your Dr and have him/her write you a Lab order and have hepc antibody test, and a viral load test.

Good luck.
