hep c

I am also on olysio/Salvado sorry about spelling on the verge of stage 3 with chirossis of the liver after  6 weeks of 2 pills once a day my explosive viral count came back no virus detected . My question is what are my chances with this stage in the disease of getting better I can't seem to get a straight answer from my doc and was told by one of her nurses that I was not a candidate for treatment before my doc corrected her. Did I just go through 80 plus thousand dollars of pills to only continue into stage 3-4

While the goal is to improve the histology of your liver, it is also great to get rid of the virus and stop the progression of the disease. The HALT C studies, done in the mid 90's, showed that people who were Stage 1 and 2 when treated mostly went back to Stage 0 in the following 5 years. For those with Stage 3/4, the chance of going back to a perfect liver was possible, but not as likely as those who had little liver damage when they started. However, even a little improvement is fabulous. It is a slow process though and you must continue to take good care of your liver even when you have cleared the virus.

I will try and find my files on the HALT C studies and see if I can find some information for you.

Hi there
If I understand your question correctly are you asking why bother taking meds for Hep C if your not going to show improvement of your liver disease?

At stage 3 fibrosis once you clear your Hep C your liver will regenerate.
Now, along will ridding yourself of the virus you would also have to abstain from alcohol drugs, or anything toxic to the liver to have this occur.  You could also have an illness that effects your liver in which Rejuvination may not become an option.

From my perspective, I'm early cirrhotic, cleared the virus, stopped drinking totally, and in 4 months when I go and get my follow-up scans I plan on the scan showing stage 2 or less.

Wishful thinking?   No, I don't think so.
What I do know is this, mild or early cirrhosis, and fibrosis can be reversed thru elimination of this disease and living a healthy lifestyle.  For this I am certain.

Stay well
.....Kim
