how long is treatment?

What is the average length of time for treatment with the new drugs? How long are u treating for with the newer drugs that just came out??

My story is like Joe's. Some people go less depending on the condition of their liver. I'll be going the full 48 at least. The new drug, the protease inhibitor is 12 weeks or the full 48 depending on which one your dr prescribes. The old double whammy of Interferon and Ribavirin are taken through the full 48 weeks. I'm on a learning curve here, but that's the way my Dr. explained it.
There can be complications and/or reductions. I think the above number of weeks can be reduced if your liver is in good shape and you reach SVR. Or it can be extended. Has your Dr. discussed duration w/ you yet? Or types of drugs? Peace n Blessings, Karen

The treatment length depends on how fast you clear I just started two weeks ago and I'm hoping to be cleared by week 4, that would be ideal, then treatment would only be six months. I am not sure exactly when they extend to a year, but it's either six months or a year.
