how long it takes from the time you come in contact with chlamydia to test positive

I tested positive for chlamydia with my fiancee and my second child but tested negative with our first child who is 3 years old and our second one is 3 months old he did cheat on me but his mom and him try to say I had it and gave it to him but I never cheated on him and I had sex 4 to 6 weeks before we even started dating. We got together in april and I found out that I was pregnant with our first son in may and I tested negative for chlamydia the second time around I tested positive. So my question is how long does it take before the test becomes positive from the time that you come in contact with chlamydia. My doctor told me from 6-8 weeks of coming in contact with chlamydia would give a positive result.
