Telaprevir alone will probably cost around $25,000. Then you also need peginterferon and ribavirin - another $20,000 (if treatment is only 6 months). Then you need medication for side effects ($5000), many lab tests ($2000), and doctor exams ($1000). The entire cost for hepatitis C treatment can easily be over $50,000.
It appears that telaprevir is not effective with all geno types. What is your geno type?

I've talked to two hepatologists, and both of them told me about $30k for the tela. I don't know if this is accurate or not, but I would suspect that the pharma salespeople are talking to the doctors, since they want to sell product.

The manufacturer is being very closed mouthed about the price. We just don't know yet. However, they definitely will have a patient assistance program for those who have no insurance or who are under-insured and qualify. Most of the pharmaceutical companies are quite generous that way.
I think any price structuring you read about is conjecture; to my knowledge the manufacturer hasn’t released cost figures.
