hvc treatment

I Have HVC. I am uninsured. I am looking for the most up to date treatment protocol that i can find in Maryland. Can you help?

If you have hep c and have not been vaccinated for he a or b the doc will likely say you should be as these could excelerate liver damage should you get exposed.  Anne arundel county provides free vaccines (they desire a donation).  Don't think you need to be a county resident and I hear the vaccinations are typically very expensive so in case this helps...

Hopefully you will be able to find a hepatologist who will order genotype testing on your Hep C virus, order a liver biopsy to check the degree of liver damage you may have, and recommend the best course of treatment for you, based on that information.  My husband has Genotype 1a, he is currently in his third round of treatment, this time with Interferon, Ribavirin, and Incivek (one of the two new drugs).  Best wishes, and keep us posted on how things go.

Thanks for the info. It's exactly what i wanted. I knew there were new meds but didn't know there names. I found proto at nih but doesn't include a third med now. I will look into calling the numbers you gave and see hat can be done. I would really like to get the best that is out there, so thank! Take care, and that=nks to the others for the additional info! Do you know your genotype, this will have alot to do with current treatment availible, being from the US most likely it will be GT 1 and will's excellent suggestion will apply

The most up to date tx. protocols are  INF/Riba  added  with one  of  either the new approvedd DAA"s  (Victrelis or Incivek)
