You're in a good place for support. There are a bunch of us who have recently started treatment here, so we can walk this road together. I do shot #8 tonight. I have read some really terrible stories too, but there are some on here who have had almost no problems. My first shot didn't bother me much till about 7 hours after I took it, then the achy feeling started, but my Ibuprofen took care of that. The next day it came back with a fever, and the Ibuprofen fixed it again. Just don't plan on doing anything the first couple of days, and let your body rest as much as possible. Your immune system is getting kicked into gear and that is going to take a lot of energy from your body, so help it fight the battle by being kind to it.

You are going to have all kinds of questions pop into your head over the course of this, so just ask us... no question is silly of foolish if it helps you feel better to know the answer.

I, too, had read many terrible stories before I started treatment.  I almost chickened out.  And like you, I found this place the day I started treatment.  It has made a huge difference in my attitude because there is real help and encouragement here.  Even if you just follow along most of the time as I do.

sule610,

I'm sorry this is starting out so rough for you.  Are you drinking lots (at least a gallon a day) of water?  I have noticed that when I become at all dehydrated the nausea starts and even if I drink lots of water after the nausea starts it seems to take a long time to settle down.  I had shot three yesterday and had less fever and chills than the first two times.  I still plan to take it easy this weekend.  The body aches, mostly in my knees and legs, don't last past the day after the shot for me, but I drink a lot of water and try not to focus on them.  I hope this gets easier for you.

I have only been treating for a month. The first injection was tough for two days for me. Like a bad flu with a high fever. Each injection after that has been much easier, no more fever and less and less noticeable sides. I have had lot of aches and pains, my energy level is considerably lower then usual, and other small sides have shown themselves recently. I have moments when I feel pretty bad, and moments when I feel almost normal. I take a walk every day no matter how I feel and drink plenty of water. You can do it, these wonderful people on the forum will help you get through it.

I have been taking two types of blood pressure medication for years. Since TX my blood pressure has gone down and the doc had me stop taking the meds. I've also lost about 12 lbs this month.

If you have been following the experience of the people on the forum that have been through this it runs the gamut of almost no bad sides to terrible. It's so individual that it's pretty tough to know what your experience will be like.

Good luck, you have a lot of company right now. It seems like a lot of us have recently started tx-Dave
