I, too, am at 7 months of treatment on rib/peg (incivek for first 12 weeks).  For the past month I have suffered from terrible neck and back pain.  There are times that I feel like I can't hold my head up.  I have been using a heating pad and only take advil if absolutely necessary.  Doc had previously advised to use advil rather than tylenol.  I never thought the pain was due to treatment.  I figured I had slept or moved wrong.  Interesting thought.  Let me know how you make out.

Does your treating doc (hopefully a GI or hepatologist) know that you have been treating yourself with Ibuprofen?

How long have you been taking Ibuprofen?

What stage of liver disease do you have?

We need more data to make any suggestions.

Neither ibuprofren or tylenol are good for your liver and can be potentially damaging.
Our doctors do what they must to keep us on treatment.
Or at least mine does.

I found this on a simple google search.

The liver helps the body break down certain drugs that you buy over-the-counter or your health care provider prescribes for you. However, the process is slower in some people, which can make these people more likely to get liver damage.

Some drugs can cause hepatitis with small doses, even if the liver breakdown system is normal. Large doses of many medications can damage a normal liver.

Many different drugs can cause drug-induced hepatitis.

Painkillers and fever reducers that contain acetaminophen are a common cause of liver inflammation. These medications can damage the liver when taken in doses that are not much greater than the recommended dose. People who already have liver disease are most likely to have this problem.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen and naproxen, may also cause drug-induced hepatitis

I suffered a spinal injury 5 years ago, I take tramadol, and 800 ibuprofen. I try not to take the ibuprofen now only when I have a headache. During treatment last year , I needed to take more tramadol and ibuprofen, because my back pain was horrible and I am in pain 24/7. Since ending treatment april of 2011 I have weened myself down to the minimal tramadol, and like I said only the ibuprofen when I have a headache. I am starting triple treatment this week, I know I will need the ibuprofen when I do my shot, I hope not to get into it like the last treatment but the back pain was intolerable, like your self, I wonder what all of this is doing to my liver, wish I had the answers for both of us Stalion

"I never thought the pain was due to treatment. "

This is a surprising statement. If you read the side effects, pain is included.
I can feel  my muscles tense with a few hours of my interferon shot.
.
One other thought concerning pain, " are you exercising?' If you just lie around your body will begin to ache.
Often its a struggle to get myself moving but once I do, it always help. I try to walk daily and do stretches.
Drinking lots of water is also extremely important.

Though not for everyone, I've found cannabis brownies help me immensely with intense deep muscular pain.
