No, you can't give someone a virus you do not have.

so u think it would be ok to not tell someone that u may potentially sleep with that that u ever had been infected with hep c?

That would be a question of intimacy I would think. It isn't like Herpes where you could possibly pass it on unknowingly. If your PCr DNA test remains clear, after a year the chance of it returning are practically nonexistant.
If it was me, I'd tell the person if we were in love and a "couple" because I'd want to share my life experiences with them but the next person might not feel it's necessary.
Have you spoken to the doctor about it?

Anyone not in a monogamous relationship should be using protection every time which would protect you both against a variety of problems including passing anything to each other.

I was under the impression that even if we remain SVR, we're still CARRIERS... correct me if I'm wrong.  (Kinda like "Once a junkie, always a junkie"???!!)

Best thing to do is ask your Doc.

Ask him if you can give blood, that will give you a clue if it's still in your system. After HepA, I know that you can never give blood because your blood has HepA anti-bodies in it forever, probably the same for all the Hepatitis viruses.

I would never drink again if I were you and never use straws or needles with others for drugs either. No blood brother stuff either. No sex without condoms either with men or women. Sorry.

Carrying HCV antibodies is NOT the same thing as carrying the active virus.  The answer to your question is NO.  At least, that is what my research has indicated.

As some of the others have suggested, I would make sure I was SVR for at least a year before I took any chances.

I'm not a doctor, but I can give my two cents' worth.  I have been infected since 1976, didn't know it until 1993.  In between those years, I was married and divorced twice and had three children.  Neither of my husbands ever got it and, thankfully, none of my children!  (happiest day of my life!!!)  I am re-married again, this time for good, and we're sort of too old to have children, if you know what I mean?  I made my new hubby get tested before I went through my third failed treatment last year, and he was negative.  If I get accepted into any trials, I'll want him to get tested again so if I do clear (okay, okay, I'm waiting for the laughter to subside), he won't give it back to me.

I sympathize with those still on the dating circuit and agree that in that situation, you always want to use protection.  No men I dated seemed afraid of getting it, but I told anyone I was going to be intimate with about it first because I felt they had a right to know.  I was only rejected one time because I have HepC.  He dumped me as soon as I told him, and we never did become intimate before then.  He was a doctor.  Still, it hurt me terribly.

I believe most of the statistics show that it is extremely rare, if ever, that HCV has been passed on sexually between monogamous couples, one infected, one not.  I hope this helps.

I would think that it depends upon whether you've attained SVR or not.  Due to the number of relapses being seen, I for one would be reluctant to let my guard down until follow-up checks certify SVR has been reached as it would not sit well to find out I may have infected someone else with this insidious disease and might have avoided that with more caution.
