injection site rash and blisters

I'm at week 16 of 48, and each time I do an injection, the rash is worse (takes about a week to surface). Especially on my legs, where blistering occurs and stays for weeks. Yes I am rotating sites and always have. My doctor didn't give me much response when I emailed him about it and said maybe I should see a skin specialist.

Is this normal? I have a long way to go.

I used to get a big red, itchy circle that looked like I'd been hit by a softball. It would appear about 4 days after and last for about 3 weeks. I always used my thighs and by the end of TX my thighs had no hair on them at all. :) The hair came back about three months after TX.

Hi Everyone-

Thanks for all the responses. I appreciate it.

Blisters are so far only on my legs. I use abdomen and I have a friend do my upper arms. So I hit one general area once a week so I'm on a 6 week rotation. Blisters are not running. Just raised, so no open wounds.

I will get a second opinion but I was surprised to not see anything on any forum about this, makes me a little concerned that this may not be a normal side effect but perhaps an allergic reaction?

You are blistering at the injection sites? I did too on occasion, but not all the time. I agree with MagTX and FIGuy, if the blisters are on your legs, your doctor really needs to see them.
Hang in there. It'll be over before you know it.
xo Karen:)

Your doc is giving good advise, you should see a dermo doc for the rash / blistering that's going on. You don't want open entry on your skin where you can end up with an infection, blisters are like small open wounds that can cause additional problems due to an infection, try to see the specialist soon.

Sorry you're having these issues:(

If you haven't already, invite your abs to the party. If you have a sadistic friend you can use additional targets that you can't reach.  Just remember, sub-q, not IM.  Many people bruise with the stuff so it's not unusual.  I haven't looked in a while but Pegasys.com had images of recommended targets. Read the recommendations before you target your abs.
