iron in vitamin

I was taking an expensive GNC Women's Vitamin prior to beginning tx.  (I'm gen 3, taking 180 mcg peg- 1xwk and 400 mg Riba- 2xday: DAY 3!!!)  My vitamin dosage (2 per day) has 18 mg of iron in it.  I understand that iron is not recommended, but at what levels?  Would 9 mg be too much?  I could take 1 per day, rather than 2.
Please let me know your thoughts as I am currently taking NO vitamins, but am also having trouble eating much.
Thanks!!

no extra iron with this disease, the body can rid itself of every other mineral but iron, and it's build up in a weak liver makes things worse.

not only with supplements, but with ALL foods you need to read the irn content/
Example: 2 kinds of pasta sit side by side, one has twice the iron..(it's been "fortified"
Do not buy it...same with cereals. etc.  Some foods high in iron absorb very well...like sesame butter, runes and beets, somethings are not as taboo because their iron is more "bound" by the cellular wall stucture of the plant, like spinach or broccoli...
still, if you have to choose, buy the cauliflower and serve the broccoli to yur kids...

I suffer from an extremely high iron load in the liver tissue and it really makes me feel terrible you can read my post on hep c and high iron,I hope it is helpful. Iron stored in liver tissue with high levels inflames the liver and has many other issues including heart failure depending on how high. I am prescribed therapeutic phlebotomy's to lower the iron load it makes a world of difference.

Took me a year to learn that centrum silver does not have iron in it.   I am a centrum silver user I also take at the recommendation of my doctor B-complex with folic acid and zinc.

Iron is bad for almost everyone. The ferrite in red meat is said to be a big cause of  colo-rectal cancer (what a word, whew). Butt hurts just saying it. eh I mean typing it.

GNC has a MVI called womens ultra mega 50 plus, it has NO IRON.  Most mvis for women over 50 do not contain iron.  Just came from my heps office a little while ago , as i was leaving he said NO IRON, even though my iron levels are normal.  I never take anything without asking hep first

Stay away from Iron!

You can continue taking vitamins, I know a lot of hep cers take Centrum silver I believe, it has no iron in it.    So should be safe.  Read the  ingrs tho!

We've always been told that iron helps the virus to replicate - all doctors say NO additional iron at all.  Not to take a multi-vitamin with iron in it.  To monitor our food.

That being said I'd say NO iron means NO iron.

Put it in the cabinet and take it when you are done with treatment.  Don't need to push the odds our of your favor in ANY way.

I've known too many geno 3s who have relapsed.

I believe that people get confused about Iron. They are told that the Virus feeds on excessive Iron in the Liver. Ok that being said ...you can get blood work to see if your Iron and TIBC (Total Iron Binding Content) is too high.
