Exactly ..no cheating with the PI's .. a call to yuor doc might be a wise choice.
I talked to the nurse line this morning and she said I could do it either way. I kinda feel like I'm cheating if I do it after the 5th shot. Maybe a call to my doctor is needed.
There may not yet be a "PI Tx - Question's for the Doctor during Tx " thread on this forum .. Maybe you want to start one if there isn't ?
I'm sure there would be allot of good input especially from those who went through the trials and are experienced with the PI's ... the responses might be very helpful for you & many of those like you just starting triple Tx : )
Gracie_Lue said this "I take my fith shot Tuesday night and I have to go for my four week blood work on Wednsday afternoon. They know when I do my shots and didn't say that it would interfear in any way so I hope it's not an over sight" ...
I would have hoped the doc's treating with the PI's were complete in informing protocol & testing times etc. to their patients, as this Tx is new & more tightly controlled than P/R (peg/riba).
I'm Wk 36 of 48 in P/R Tx ...and to be honest .. I haven't researched in depth about Tx Protocol with the PI's .. kind of understand the basics ...but my fingers are crossed I won't need to know those ... still a long way to go ...
I'll go out on a limb here and say , if it were me .. i figure it would probably be prudent to do the 4 week PCR test a day before or the morning of, what would be your 5th shot , not after .. others will correct me if I am wrong .. thats only a uninformed guess on PI Tx ..
Good luck & I hope they work for you !
Never think of these questions when at the doctors office and to get him on the phone is near impossible in non emergency. Maybe will call the nurse hot line. If I take 5th shot on Thursday and get blood work on Friday wonder if that would make a difference in outcome.
This is not a clinical trial. I'm on triple therapy with incivek. You're taken off all drugs if you do not reach under 1000 VL after week 4.
You are right though development of a mutated virus if not responding should be a main concern
For what it's worth , I do all my CBC's & PCR's 1-2 days before or the morning of my shot ..
I am on P/R Tx (peg/riba) never considered the PI VL under 1000IU @ 4 week factor..
There is plenty of posts in this forum .. discussing about why to proceed with CBC tests at the end of the week ... We want to know the levels when the Inf is not at it's strongest influence .. however that being said .. this does not always apply in protocol for those taking Neupogen or other helper drugs ...
For staying on the PI's because of VL reduction at week 4 and timing of blood draws for PCR .. not so sure that has been discussed much as they are new to the public .. clinical trials are all pretty regulated in sample collection timing.
Maybe a good thread to add here for all those who are trying Incevik and concerned about meeting the Tx protocol ... however , development of a mutated virus if not responding is the main concern !
I would ask my doctor if there is any questions !
I take my 4 shot on Thursday. So I guess I should take my blood test the following Thursday before shot. Does that sound like the best time. I want to give myself the best change to reach under 1000 VL so I can stay on treatment.
I didn't even think about that. I take my fith shot Tuesday night and I have to go for my four week blood work on Wednsday afternoon. Hope it works out ok. They know when I do my shots and didn't say that it would interfear in any way so I hope it's not an over sight! Good luck with yours as well!
thanks but this time its too late...just took it..so it will be about 12 hours...billy
Not usually ... but maybe 12 hrs. after might be ok as the Inf has not really absorbed into your system ... I wouldn't , but thats just me ...
The general consensus is to do the CBC blood test Before the shot .. I know I do & am sure most others are the same ... reason being, at the end of the "week" ... a day or 2 before your shot, or the same day, but before .. since your blood work is very impacted by the Inf and if CBC is taken right after your shot .. the results will not be as "accurate" as they would be if later in the "week" ....
