HCV is not classified as an STD.  HCV is a blood to blood virus.
The only way you could get it sexually is if you were having very rough sex, or rough anal sex where blood is present from both parties.

My husband and I have been having unprotected sex for 10 years. I have just been diagnosed with hep c and could have contracted it any time between 78 and 98, while living in Indonesia. He tested negative. What I'm trying to say is that it is low risk to be infected, if one is monogamous. That's what statistics say. You would be at higher risk using each others toothbrushes or sharing razors. But low risk is low risk, so there still is a slight risk. Please don't panic, but get yourself tested. You will receive the result within a week. And try to be strong and supportive towards your lover, he really needs you now.
Good luck. Marcia

Hep C statistically 1% chance in 30 years through sex; that's medicine's way of saying that it is not likely; Hep B is a different story; be careful with toothpicks, sharing toothbrushes and things like that; razors....

meant to say 30 years relationship between one positive and one negative partner is 1% chance of transmittion; be more worried about transmitting it to my kids  through not picking up my flossing device or something; that's i guess why am on treatment anyway

It's not very likely to 'catch' hepc from sex so you should be fine.  I had given birth to both my kids before I was diagnosed and they are both negative. We shared toothbrushes and razors and all sorts of stuff and never thought about it.

It's not very likely to pass it on that way although it is "possible".  so just continue to be careful.

do not share razors toothbrushes toothpicks ect.; please don't tell war stories about sharing razors and things; there is not a lot of difference between razors and needles to a virus; you don't have to see the blood;  this virus stays alive quite some time outside the body; don't share!!!!!!!!!!!! please!!!
