HEPATITIS C COMMUNITY
is it possible?

is it possible?

can Hepatitis A, B & C transmit through receiving Oral Sex if the "performer" have it?

*1 of the health center here in Malaysia said it is possible.

Ideally, you're supposed to learn these things BEFORE you have unprotected sex.

Hep C is transmitted blood to bloodstream and isn't considered an STD - sexually transmitted disease.  There is virtually no risk there.

Get tested for Hep B.

Hep A is not likely.

Here's a good article on transmission methods for various types of hepatitis, this should help you figure it out for yourself.

Most likely you are fine but for peace of mind just go get the simple blood tests and then you can let it go and never do it again.  Even if you did have hepc you would not be putting your family at risk....it's not that easy to catch hepc really you need blood to blood contact.

You asked if it was possible.

You didn't ask how likely.

As others said, not very.  However, it's a good rule of thumb to remember that when you have sex with someone, you're having sex with everyone they have had sex with.

hep A and C are VERY unlikey to be transmitted through sexual activity.

hep B is a classic Std and is easily transmitted through sex.  You can get a vaccine

for hep a and b.  No vaccine exists for hep c.  Get tested for hep b.  two months is

long enough for an accurate result.

Just got my Hep B & C test result I did on 89days PE last week. I list down the test & the result here;
1)Virology Hepatitis Serology (CMIA) for HBs Antigen - Not Detected
2)Virology Hepatitis C Serology - ANTI HCV Screen (CMIA) - Non-Reactive

So can I take it as conclusive & free from both Hep?

Hepatitis A is definitely transmitted through sexual contact. The most common way to transmit Hep A is the fecal oral route. As a receiver of oral sex you are more likely to infect the other person if you have HAV, The good thing about hep A is that it is self limiting and does not become chronic. Still, it is often transmitted through oral sex.

You would likely know if you got hep A as your liver enzymes would be very high and you would feel very sick. Why don't you get vaccinated for both Hep A & B?
