just found this good resource

hello all,
i just found this neat resource from canada with lots of info and resources and references.  im 37y/o male, i tested pos in 1997 genotype la, minimal liver damage on biopsy. i responded after a year of intefuron/ribivarin about 2 years ago and im going to get rechecked so im kind of nervous to see if i relapsed.  i feel ok, some fatigue and occasional right upper quadrant pains, but im hoping thats just the plight of pushing 40. anyway, best of everything to everyone and stay strong. ms

just curious why did you wait 2 years to find out if your clear, is this the first time you've checked for clearance after the meds? did the dr make you wait or was it your choice?...

Hello, Welcome to this site, please let us know how the test come out, I also am 1a, mild on biopsy and have not done tx. You have given me some hope.  Good luck to you, 2 years??? Thats a long time to wait, I also am curious as to why you waited.....Keep us posted.  MO

Msopell, welcome, I wish you the best on your test.  I am also a responder, type 1b on tx for 96 wks, clear at 2.5mo and 1 mo away from my 6moPCR.

Thanks for the link Mike. Good read. This French professor has a strong argument against current treatments, "The goal of HCV therapy is permanent viral eradication. This cannot be achieved by treatments targeting a single mechanism, and combination strategies with drugs that have multiple modes of action will therefore be needed...". I haven't started tx cuz I'm highly skeptical of INF-a + RBV working on 1a's AND keeping us clear, w/o relapse. I now will be keeping tabs on the new studies he mentioned in the article and await their results. Chimps, hmmm.
