last shot yesterday...still have questions

after my 12 week results came back undetectable i'm a genotype 3 i've had all the classic side effects off and on but the only ones that persisted through out were the headaches, fever, and leg cramps
i started taking ibuprofen then switched to asprin with codeine during my last 2 months i've come off methadone about 8 months ago and have quit all other drugs including cigarettes and alcohol i've been following some of your postings and there seems to be a negative response to aspirin on the liver also i have missed about 4 doses of ribavirin since my 12 week test but managed to catch up ( i'm on the pegatron/ribavirin treatment) what effect do you think this will have on my final test?

Well it is great you quit smoking and the pain meds for the most part.  Did you miss four straight doses of riba or one dose a day for a few days?  I think there may be a difference depending on how you missed.  Either way though what's done is done so try not to miss any more and hope all is well.  I wouldn't worry about it too much even though it is better if you don't miss them.  I know my doc couldn't stress that enough to me every time I have seen him even before starting.  I think he wanted it to stick in my head.

Ribavirn has a long half life and I don't think missing four doses during treatment -- whether consecutive or not -- should make any difference. Especially since you missed them after the first 12 weeks when compliance is more critical, and especially since you made them up. I missed close to a week of ribavirin early-on due to anemia but made like yourself it up with higher doses beforehand. At this point it looks like I cleared the virus. All the best luck.

thanx im a little nervous and your positive feedback is comforting when i told my nurse in charge of my treatment she was more upset than me she said that my treatment might not work because of it (by the way, i didn't miss 4 in a row i took my pills atleast once a day)

i would think the methodone would be worse than the aspirin. suboxone is really better than methadone.

try and put this in perspective,,,you will take about 900 to 1000 riba and you missed 16? get a pill box it helps.

I have to take pain meds for headache and back pain. I do take codiene with asprin. I have heard it isn't so good because of the bleeding or lack of clotting.

I suppose if my platelets get really low or my doc says to stop I will have to switch to tylenol. I don't like it though. Aspirin has always worked best for me.

I missed about ten or eleven doses over the course of tx. I am now 6 months post-tx UND <10. Don't beat yourself up over this issue.
